Ethan Ruby, Esq., is a licensed attorney in New York and an independent insurance adjuster with a focus on labor law, insurance defense, and high-exposure claims. His legal background is shaped by studies at the Bronx High School of Science, Binghamton University, and the Cardozo School of Law. His career includes work at law firms, nonprofit organizations, and, currently, as a Senior Claim Specialist at National Claim Services. He has experience in litigation, mediation, and complex risk transfer, supported by licenses in real estate, notary services, and adjusting.
Born in 1995, Ethan was raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Coming from a multicultural household with dual citizenship in the United States and France, he grew up in an environment that emphasized responsibility and service. His parents built a hospitality business in New York City, which became a source of practical lessons in leadership and perseverance.
He attended the Bronx High School of Science, where he participated in track and field and contributed to the state-champion mock trial team. His early involvement in advocacy and structured argument laid the foundation for his interest in law.
Attorney Ethan Ruby began college at Tulane University in New Orleans. He engaged in community-based efforts, including mentorship work with Son of a Saint, a nonprofit for boys who have lost their fathers. He later transferred to Binghamton University, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Law in December 2017.
Before law school, he gained legal experience in multiple settings. He worked as a paralegal at Fragomen, a business immigration firm on Wall Street, gaining insight into the complexity of immigration matters. He also served as a Judicial Intern to the Hon. Arthur F. Engoron at the New York County Supreme Court Civil Branch. These early roles provided him with a balanced view of litigation and administrative procedures before attending law school.
He entered the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2018 with practical experience already in place. As part of the Cardozo Mediation Clinic, he mediated civil and small claims cases in New York courts.
Ethan served as an Associate Editor for the Cardozo Arts and Entertainment Law Journal, enhancing his legal writing and research skills. His internships included work at New York Legal Assistance Group, Bronx Legal Services, and New York County Defender Services, where he supported clients across various public service legal areas.
After graduating in May 2021 and passing the New York Bar that same year, he started his legal career with a focus on labor law and insurance litigation.
His first role after law school was as a Law Clerk at Buitrago & Associates PLLC, where he handled personal injury and negligence cases. He was responsible for drafting pleadings, preparing clients for depositions, and negotiating settlements with insurance companies.
In December 2021, Ethan joined a law firm as an Associate, focusing on labor law and general negligence defense for insurance and construction clients. His work involved motion practice, managing discovery, reviewing medical records, and reporting to clients.
In January 2023, he transitioned to another firm, where he managed a broader caseload involving high-exposure labor law and tort claims. His responsibilities included depositions, court appearances, site inspections, and motion arguments, as well as identifying potential risk-transfer opportunities.
In September 2024, Ethan joined National Claim Services LLC, a division of CRC Insurance Services, as a Senior Claim Specialist. This role integrates his background in law and insurance, placing him in charge of complex claims, including Labor Law, bodily injury, property damage, and construction-related incidents.
Ethan collaborates with external counsel, investigators, and insured clients, managing cases from start to finish. His work includes assessing liability, exploring risk transfer strategies, overseeing litigation, and resolving claims through mediation, arbitration, or trial.
He holds multiple credentials that support his career. In addition to his admission to the New York State Bar, he is a licensed Independent Insurance Adjuster, a Certified Public Notary, and a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson. He continues to meet CLE requirements, ensuring his expertise stays current in the legal and insurance fields.
In his personal time, he enjoys skiing and basketball, as well as visiting national parks when he has the opportunity.
Ethan Ruby, an attorney based in New York, continues to combine his legal training and insurance knowledge to support clients and contribute to the broader legal and claims management community.
