Etienne Uzac, a highly accomplished media entrepreneur, boasts an extensive background in print and digital media and exceptional global business management skills. His remarkable journey commenced with his relocation from Santiago, Chile, to South Africa and France. While in France, he completed his high school education at Lycée Stanislas Paris, followed by his college years at The London School of Economics and Political Science. Subsequently, Etienne made his way to New York, where he played a pivotal role as part of the founding team of International Business Times (IBT), a digital media company incorporated in 2006. Based in New York, IBT quickly became a leading provider of all-digital business news coverage in various countries. As the company flourished, it rebranded, becoming IBT Media and expanding its portfolio to include renowned brands such as Medical Daily, Latin Times, and Player. One, and Fashion Times.
Building upon the growth and success achieved with IBT, Etienne orchestrated the noteworthy acquisition of Newsweek Magazine by IBT in 2013. The purchase involved a strategic relocation to Newsweek's offices in Downtown New York. Etienne, along with the IBT team, made substantial investments in the development and growth of Newsweek. They assembled a highly skilled executive team to lead the publication for the years to come, successfully reviving it from an e-magazine to a fully-fledged news website and reinstating the print edition. Newsweek's editorial prowess garnered significant attention, resulting in profitability by the end of 2014. During this period, IBT also witnessed substantial growth, largely attributable to its proprietary technologies, which provided a competitive advantage in the digital publishing landscape. The company's commitment to excellence was further evident through recruiting top-tier journalists, leading to the acquisition of numerous awards, including six SABEWs, one Izzy, and three The Drum Online Media Awards.
