Sick and Tired of GOP Chaos? Do Something About It
Sick and Tired of GOP Chaos? Do Something About It A Decrease font size. A Reset font size. A Increase font size. By Eugene DePasquale As I’ve traveled across the Commonwealth for the past year, the message I’ve heard from Pennsylvanians is clear: they’re sick and tired of the chaos, corruption, and high prices coming out of Washington. This November, we have the chance to do something about it.
Wait, Why Are Republicans "Basically Depressed" in Pennsylvania?
“Republicans are basically depressed right now,” Eugene DePasquale, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, reveals during his sit-down with Tim Dickinson. DePasquale updates us on four key House races in the Keystone state, where he is witnessing “a lot of Democratic enthusiasm.” The two also discuss the highly anticipated square off in PA-08 between Scranton Mayor Cognetti and incumbent Rob Bresnahan and why the 2028 Presidential election will “run through” Pennsylvania.
Get Billionaires Out of Elections: Eugene DePasquale on the PA Supreme Court Race
On November 4, Pennsylvania voters will be able to decide if three state Supreme Court justices will remain in office. These three justices have already been elected to serve for a 10-year term, but must face a retention election every year. In Pennsylvania, justices are normally retained until their term is up. In fact, in the history of Pennsylvania, only one justice has failed to be retained.
DePASQUALE: Why I Should Be PA's Attorney General – DV Journal
The Office of Attorney General of the State of Pennsylvania is expansive and critically important. The next person you elect to that position has to be ready to lead a state agency, and handle investigations on everything from consumer scams to violent crime, from the defense of your reproductive rights to your voting rights. I’m Eugene DePasquale and I’m ready for that heavy workload because I’ve carried it before as your auditor general.

Eugene DePasquale and Kate Harper: Commonsense energy policy bridges political divide
“The people chose divided government” is a common refrain in Harrisburg and Washington that too often misses the mark. In truth, the people chose their leaders — from both major parties — to govern Pennsylvania and the United States because they believe they can get things done. They weren’t choosing division. They were choosing leaders they thought would take appropriate action. These days, the only way that happens is through compromise and collaboration.
It’s time for charter school reform [column]
Every state budget includes negotiated agreements on a variety of policy issues. Yet, despite bipartisan calls for comprehensive charter school reform, once again the Pennsylvania General Assembly has put this year’s budget to bed without any significant reforms to the charter school law — which is widely recognized as one of the worst in the country.

Bernie O'Neill and Eugene DePasquale: Legislative action on charter reform is long overdue
Our roles as former elected officials from both of the major political parties have given us unique perspectives into not only Pennsylvania’s political process, but also its public education system, particularly charter schools. Charter schools in the state have grown tremendously in the 24-plus years in which they have existed.

Declaring independence from misinformation and lies
The Big Lie has infiltrated Pennsylvania, with several possible Republican candidates for governor leading the charge, threatening the future of our elections. Just days after state Sen. Doug Mastriano called for an absurd forensic investigation of the 2020 election, former U.S. Attorney Bill McSwain entered the fray. McSwain sent a letter to former President Donald Trump, claiming that he received “allegations of voter fraud and election irregularities” on Election Day and afterward.
This election, health care is on the ballot
Over nearly eight months, our community and the country has grappled with the tragic effects of COVID-19 and the resulting economic fallout. Since March, we’ve lost over 220,000 loved ones; parents and siblings, friends and neighbors - every single one an immeasurable loss. We now face a second wave of infections. The number of cases are rising rapidly and public health experts warn that the winter will be the most difficult period of the pandemic, with families forced indoors as the weather turns.
Endorsements | Win the Era
Eugene DePasquale US House PA-10 “Eugene's public service has always been characterized by an instinct to solve the most pressing challenges facing families in his community. We've seen this in his work as Pennsylvania Auditor General, ensuring tax dollars are used to benefit taxpayers, not politicians. His common-sense approach and drive to solve problems are what Washington needs more of.
Pa. must get real about the cost of cleaning up climate change disasters | Opinion
In a nation divided over the essence of truth itself, it’s often hard to have a conversation about how to solve actual problems like climate change. It’s time to focus more attention on the rising costs of climate change and less on the excuses and distractions coming from corporate interests that profit from perpetuating the problem. As Pennsylvania’s chief fiscal watchdog, I’ve already identified over $1 billion in misspent funds and continue to warn taxpayers about rising costs.
State’s approach on marijuana must evolve
As Pennsylvania’s chief fiscal watchdog, it’s my job to point out when public policy does not make sense for taxpayers. One of the issues deserving an overhaul is our state’s approach to marijuana. The City of Lancaster is among a growing number of communities nationwide adopting a smarter approach by reducing penalties for possession of small amounts of marijuana.

Eugene A. DePasquale | Pa. must make students’ mental health a priority
When a student feels sick during the school day, he or she visits the school nurse. But if their problem is emotional or psychological in nature, where can they turn for help? That’s the dilemma some Pennsylvania students face when they are bullied by classmates. Tragically, bullying reportedly played in a role in student suicides in Blair, Columbia and York counties this year.
Auditor General DePasquale: Legalize marijuana in Pa. to boost revenues and create jobs
With Pennsylvania teetering on the edge of another budget cliff, it is immensely clear to me that we must get creative in finding long-term revenue solutions to prevent total financial collapse. Last month, as a short-term fix to the state’s cash-flow woes, I cosigned a $750 million loan from Treasury’s Short Term Investment Pool. That loan cost the state $141,000 in interest.

OPED DePasquale: Why won't Trump release tax returns?
As a candidate for president, there are certain things that are expected of you. This includes releasing your tax returns which has been a standard practice for every candidate going back almost 40 years. As the auditor general of Pennsylvania, it’s important for me to be open and transparent.
