Abstract This study explores academic literature on hate speech and discriminatory practices in digital chat environments based on instant messaging apps, specifically Telegram and WhatsApp. The sample includes 40 articles in English published in scientific journals between January 2009 and April 2022, available in four databases: Web of Science, Directory of Open Access Journals, Scopus, and Google Scholar.
