What was your first job as a journalist?

My first writing work was with my uni's student newspaper.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No.

How is social media changing news?

Theres too many opinions available on social media. It both muddles the truth and wastes your time.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

I sometimes doubt that Fran Lebowitz is someone who walks the same earth as me.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

In email with as much detail as possible. Not directed but fully informed.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Mostly word, probably not a very hip answer. I use wordpress for help with SEO and formatting also.

Why did you become a journalist?

I havent been lucky enough to become a journalist yet. Writing and journalism has helped me fall in love with films, I'd like to do the same.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I currently do. Film section writer.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My first piece with a non-student publication. The production ethos of Quentin Tarantino.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

I am an aspiring journalist. So I suppose have faith in yourself, its cliché but probably the hardest doctrine to stick to.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A Halloween themed pitch on alterative scary movies. A Girl walks home alone at night was the focus.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

What's your favorite drink?

Alcoholic, a whisky sour. Otherwise, a cold can of coke.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

I live in South Wales so I'd like to say exploring the outdoors. That manifestly isn't true however.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

The Guardian nearly always do great film and music reviews. I also dip into Roger Ebert now and again.
