Evan Dalton Smith’s Biography

My culture reporting and creative work has appeared in the Washington Post, LA Times, Slate, Salon, LA Review of Books, Paris Review, Ploughshares, New Yorker, and elsewhere.

Formerly, I served as Associate Web Editor at Poets & Writers, Inc., and Director of Publications for the Student Press Initiative at Teachers College, Columbia University.

A native of North Carolina, I attended its public schools and university, then lived on the Lower East Side of Manhattan for the better part of two decades, graduating from Columbia University with an MFA in Writing. I now live in West Newbury, Mass., with my family.

My first book of nonfiction, Looking for Andy Griffith, is out next year from UNC Press.
