1. Introduction Objects with shell-like geometries such as paper, fabrics, cans, metal sheets and thin-walled 3D prints are ubiquitous in our daily lives. As such, their simulation is also of high interest in the field of physically-based animation. It is well known that for such objects, codimensional simulation as a surface embedded in three-dimensional space is beneficial in terms of computational efficiency and numerical properties in comparison to full volumetric simulations.
