ASSESSMENT OF CIRCULATING MICRO-RNAS AS CANDIDATE BIOMARKERS IN BRUGADA SYNDROME
Brugada syndrome is a potentially life-threatening channelopathy and an important cause of sudden unexplained death in otherwise healthy individuals. Traditional risk prediction models have significant limitations and are insensitive. Myocardial microfibrosis of the right ventricular outflow tract has been suggested as arrhythmogenic substrate in Brugada syndrome.
LONG TERM OUTCOMES OF EPICARDIAL PACING LEADS
Transvenous implantation of a left ventricular (LV) pacing lead is the standard approach to deliver cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) but fails in 5-10% of procedures. Surgical implantation of a LV epicardial lead represents an alternative approach to deliver CRT to patients with failed transvenous lead insertion or to individuals with other indications for cardiac surgery and anticipated need for CRT or pacing in the future.

FiguresDiagnosis of arrhythmic disorders is challenging because of their short-lasting, intermittent character. Conventional technologies of noninvasive ambulatory rhythm monitoring are limited by modest sensitivity.
Canadian Registry of Implantable Electronic Device Outcomes: Surveillance of High Voltage Leads
Cardiac implantable electrical devices (CIEDs) are subject to advisories and complications that can result in morbidity/mortality for patients, there is currently no system in Canada to track these. This was a multicenter, prospective cohort study conducted at 5 centers to determine feasibility. Patients with a de novo high voltage lead implantation were included and followed for a minimum of one year. There were 611 leads enrolled into the registry over 18 months.
VENTRICULAR ARRHYTHMIA IN APICAL AND SEPTAL HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY: THE FRENCH-CANADIAN EXPERIENCE
To view the full text, please login as a subscribed user or purchase a subscription. Click here to view the full text on ScienceDirect. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is among the leading causes of unexplained sudden cardiac death in younger individuals and competitive athletes. Phenotypic variants include septal-HCM (sHCM) and apical-HCM (aHCM) with the latter being labeled to have a more benign course.
