Introduction The cerebellar circuitry is one of the best characterized of the entire brain, both from anatomical functional standpoints. Strangely, this is true with one exception: the ‘feathered’ cell of Fañanas, an enigmatic cerebellar astrocyte that was discovered more than 100 years ago (Fañanas, 1916), but which subsequently has been practically absent from the scientific literature.
