Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed plans to shut more UK high street branches as part of a move to close 250 locations in 2026 and 2027. More than 20 Lloyds Bank branches shut in October, while a further 31 locations were closed across the country earlier in the year. Lloyds Banking Group is also closing branches of its other franchises, including Halifax, while the Bank of Scotland saw four closures earlier in the year.
Angel Tube station with 'failing escalators' to become exit-only from 2027
A major Tube station will become exit-only due to ongoing issues with its escalators, Transport for London (TfL) has announced. Angel Station in Islington sees almost 12,000,000 visitors each year. But the Northern Line station, which boasts the longest escalators on the London Underground network, will become exit-only so engineers can work on extending the working life of the escalators.

Kyle Francis Kennedy, the granddaughter of Robert F Kennedy, has died at the age of 42. An obituary published by Burke Funeral Homes announced this week that Kyle ‘passed away peacefully' on September 21 at her home in Westwood, Massachusetts. A funeral service was held privately, and her cause of death is under investigation.

The UK high street is facing another closure as stationery chain Typo has announced it is closing all stores across the country. The Australian chain, which is owned by fashion group Cotton On, operated over a dozen stores across the UK. But now all shops, as well as the store's website, are slated to close by 2027.

Canary Wharf 's iconic HSBC Tower is the next major London landmark to undergo a massive transformation. HSBC's lease on the building expires next year, and the banking giant is expected to move into the City of London, leaving the iconic London tower up for grabs. Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and Canary Wharf Group (CWG) submitted the proposals to Tower Hamlets Council, revealing plans to transform the 45-storey tower into a mixed-use development.

Major UK accessories brand Radley is set to disappear from UK high streets by the end of the month. The retail store was bought out of administration by Poundland owner Gordon Brothers in May, but the deal did not include Radley's retail operating business. At the time, 42 roles were made redundant with immediate effect, but more are expected as all of Radley's retail shops, which include two main stores and 19 concessions, will close by the end of the month.

Two central London train stations are closing for three weeks today
Two national rail stations in London are set to close for three weeks from today as Southeastern carries out £20,000,000 worth of upgrades. Waterloo East and Charing Cross will be closed for a total of 22 days while upgrade works are carried out, causing travel disruption for much of the summer. During the closure, trains will not serve either station, and services will be diverted to other stations across London.

Fabio Crispim An urgent recall has been issued for the Millennium Peanuts Caramel Milk Chocolate bar sold at B&M and Home Bargains over ‘ health fears'. Producer Loudwater Trade & Finance Ltd has recalled the chocolate bar from retailers for failing to declare allergens in English on the label. The chocolate contains milk, soya and peanuts, and it may contain hazelnuts, almonds, cashew nuts and cereals containing gluten, none of which are declared on the label.
