1 Introduction In Arabic-speaking countries, such as Egypt, the majority of job advertisements (especially for senior and high-paid positions) in online recruitment use masculine language forms (Soliman et al. 2023). Arabic uses masculine forms as default, as is common in many languages that have grammatical gender, such as Spanish, French, Italian, or German (Corbett 1991; Hellinger and Bußmann 2001).
