Acute illness severity index for severe cardiovascular disease patients using machine learning approaches
Abstract Common intensive care severity scores may be less accurate for critically ill patients with cardiovascular disease. We develop and validate a data-driven severity index for 30 day mortality prediction using routinely collected hospital data. We performed a retrospective multicenter cohort study. Model development used the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care databases (39,458 admissions), split into training (10,457) and internal validation (29,001).
Future trajectory of respiratory infections following the COVID-19 pandemic in Hong Kong
The future outbreak of non-COVID-19 endemic respiratory infectious diseases (RIDs) should be aware for countries/regions that have imposed prolonged containing measures. We proposed a Threshold-based Control Method (TCM) by integrating initiated threshold and control stringency to mitigate the health resources crisis by flattening the hospitalization rate to a safe range. The results could be helpful for future non-pharmaceutical intervention (NPI) relaxation policy making.

Modelling the geographical spread of HIV among MSM in Guangdong, China: a metapopulation model considering the impact of pre-exposure prophylaxis
1. Introduction Despite substantial progress in tackling the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) epidemic, HIV continues to pose public health threats in China [1,2]. Specifically, HIV transmission among men who have sex with men (MSM) has increased markedly in recent years, making up the majority of new diagnoses among young people in China [3–5]. HIV mutates frequently.
Optimal resource allocation in HIV self-testing secondary distribution among Chinese MSM: data-driven integer programming models
1. Introduction Men who have sex with men (MSM) are currently the most vulnerable community populations affected by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In China, the percentage of MSM recorded as new HIV infection cases is still rising [1]. HIV status unawareness is the main factor leading to the current HIV epidemic among MSM.
