Fernando Bossoes is a Toronto-based journalism student and emerging reporter with experience covering sports, politics and local communities.
Currently in his final year of the Bachelor of Journalism program at Humber Polytechnic, Fernando has built a diverse portfolio across print, digital and radio platforms.
Fernando has been working as a sports journalist with the Hawks Sports Network since 2023. He covers 12 varsity teams across multiple sports, writing game recaps, previews and feature stories that go beyond statistics to explore the human side of sports. Fernando also contributes to Humber's student newspaper, Humber ETC, reporting across a range of beats including politics and breaking news.
Fernando has provided on-the-ground multimedia coverage from Ottawa during the 2025 Canadian federal election. He reported from the nation's capital for TV and print and reported live on the radio.
Beyond journalism, Fernando also brings a background in corporate communications. He recently completed a four-month internship as a communications intern at Equinix, working on internal and external communication campaigns.
Based in Toronto, Fernando is deeply involved in his community. His commitment to local storytelling has been recognized through the Joe Suzor Memorial Media Award and the Jerry Howarth Sports Broadcasting Award, both celebrating his impactful coverage of the Humber and Etobicoke communities.
Fernando primarily covers sports and politics, with a particular interest in the human side of sports journalism. He believes sports journalism is much more than statistics and hat tricks, and that stories should also capture the emotional and personal dimensions of sports.
And, like any good Star Wars fan, Fernando believes Revenge of the Sith deserves its masterpiece status.
