Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, when I first begin in a newspaper city room, we had typewriters.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I prefer to be emailed with sufficient detail to shape an editorial pitch.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I work mostly on a desktop PC but also use an iPhone. I use a Nikon DSLR

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My novel actually. It's a literary/historical novel, Tunnel of Mirrors

What's your favorite drink?

Coffee

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

City walking

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Toss up between The New Yorker and The Atlantic Monthly

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

People think that urban centres are difficult, too fast and unfriendly. Parisians aren't rude and New Yorkers are really helpful.
