Finbarre Snarey

I am an independent arts and culture journalist, interviewer, podcast producer and creative technologist based in the United Kingdom.

My work focuses on musicians, writers, poets, artists, performers, craftspeople and creative practitioners, with a particular interest in contributor-led interviews that give space to marginalised and underrepresented voices.

I am the founder and host of Tarot Interviews, the world's first podcast interview format where creative people discuss their work through tarot cards as structured prompts. I also produce Tarot DMs, the world's first epistolary tarot interview series, where writers, artists and creative people respond to three tarot prompts in a one-hour messenger-based conversation.

Alongside my journalistic work, I am founder-curator of the British Tarot Archive, an independent archive documenting tarot decks, printed matter and tarot culture connected to Britain and the UK. My research and creative practice explore interview design, tarot as a cultural practice, living heritage, digital publishing and aleatory methods in arts journalism.

As a freelancer, I adhere to the Society of Freelance Journalists' Code of Practice and I am a full voting member of NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists. My approach is informed by Inclusive Journalism Cymru, the Trans Journalists Association Style Guide and GLAAD Media Reference Standards, with an emphasis on accuracy, care, context and allowing contributors to speak in their own words.
