Glenwood Brown - The Real Beast
Good puncher, durable but could be outboxed. Big underrated wins were koing Donovan Boucher (who went on for a good run) and future champ (2 wins over Terry Norris!) Luis Santana. Didn´t see the fight but took Maurice Blocker to a split decision just before nearly beating Meldrick Taylor which is pretty good form in 2 straight fights. Loss to Larry Barnes finished him at top level but still beat solid fighters like Rafael Williams and Tony Marshall.
Chris Eubank Sr vs Andy Lee at MW
Eubank in 10. Chris was pretty good with southpaw beating Gary Stretch and undefeated Graciano Rocchigiani impressively. Also the solid (at British level) Sam Storey was dispatched easily and though he lost and took heavy punishment he gave a young Calzaghe a hard fight. Only Dan Schommer (probaby deserved the decision in a dreary fight) gave him problems but he was a slick boxer. Andy Lee is not that, a decent puncher but too easy to hit and he would be worn down till stopped in a good fight.

Highest Connect Percentages
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Dynamicpuncher, . I was just having a look at Larry Holmes vs Ray Mercer and the stats were mind boggling Holmes landed 68 percent of his punches which is pretty unreal TBH. What's some other examples of very high connect percentages in fights ? Terry Dunstan-Alexander Gurov 100% connect rate! Best fights to watch lasting 1 to 15 rounds: Ultimate Viewer’s Guide
Not sure I quite nailed the title, so let me explain. Sometimes I’m sitting around and thinking I’d like to watch a fight, but maybe I’m short on time (or patience) so I want to find something around 4 of 5 rounds, or have a bit more but not enough for a full 12 or 15 and I’m looking for a good scrap that’s 8-9 rounds long.
Unbelievably Great, but Unique Endings to Fights
I was thinking about which fights had crazy endings while making my 15 fights for @Saintpat's thread, and I'd been thinking about this for the last few weeks now. Which fights had an insane ending, but not in a disappointing or weird sense, but in an exciting and fantastic sense?
Yawe Davis vs Carl Thompson
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Wladimir, . Enjoy! This content is protected Thanks for that fight. Brilliant channel. Do you have Yawe Davis-Tom Collins? Unfortunately I´ve only seen it in b/w, one of the greatest one punch knockouts you will ever see. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account? No, create an account now. Least complacent fighters

Who is the biggest lucky-punch world champion?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Flavius, . Who do you think is the best example of winning the world championship title by a lucky punch. It must be someone who was clearly outboxed, was loosing the fight by a huge margin and then came with a lucky punch that won him the fight and the title. It must be a boxer whose winning punch was really a lucky punch and not a thoroughly prepared attack.
Quarter window glazing, 142.
Anyone got any idea what material goes between the glass and the chrome frame on the rear quarter window on a 1970 142? I have glass in a black frame I want to move to a chrome frame I have that has a clamshell spall where the latch glues on. I'll need to replace that seal/material.

Carlos Hernandez vs Donovan Ruddock
This content is protected I was watching these highlights and wondered why did Hernandez flipped out at the end ? Also, does someone have information about Hernandez ? I read that he was Spinks' sparring partner for the Tyson fight, and I can see that his style was inspired by Tyson. Thanks.
Jim McDonald, all but forgotten...
I remember him, more so for the Bobby Czyz fight where he was pummelled but never quit. Just didn´t have it anymore after the Spinks fight. Just read he died: https://www.leafcremation.com/obituaries/james-lloyd-macdonald Nice little footage of life after boxing, includes ko of Willie Edwards which got him his title shot at Spinks: This content is protected RIP Jim MacDonald

Your favorite Mike McCallum fights
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Flo_Raiden, . Now that the great Body Snatcher has passed away let’s show some appreciation of the skills, craft, toughness, and unforgettable fights that he’s been in. McCallum has been in plenty of fights that were fought at such an elite level, whether it was a dominant performance or great competitive fights. What are some of your personal favorite fights from McCallum that you could watch over again?
Any Info On The Mexican Earthquake Relief Card? 1986-02-25? Olivares, Cuevas, Zarate, Herrera
I've had footage of the Pipino Cuevas/Felipe Vaca (Jorge's brother) exhibition for years and was always curious about it. It was added to Boxrec in the recent past and with that I was able to see what other fights took place that night. It shows as a NC however and was wondering if anyone knew why. It's nice to see so many Mexican boxing legends in one place doing something in their countries time of need. This would be the very tail end of many boxers careers.

Your favourite fighter from Panama
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Wladimir, . Eusebio Pedroza. One of the best 15 round fighters I´ve ever seen. Loved the way he made fighters miss, bust them up with uppercuts, body punches (and low blows!) and took control over the last 5 rounds. Classy boxer. Fighters who had the highest aura at their peak.
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Devon, . I’d assume most of your list will be heavyweights since they tend to have more aura to most, although I could see someone like Hearns getting in this list with how intimidating he was. Early Nigel Benn. His punch power (100 % kos), his swagger and attitude. Disappeared after the classic Watson fight but turned it around to win 2 World titles and win that war vs Gerald McClellan. Real warrior.

Your favorite fighters best performance
Mike Tyson-Tyrell Biggs. Biggs was an undefeated Olympian Gold Medallist with a world class jab. He hadn´t looked good in his last bout (come from behind ko of David Bey) but had shown guts in outpointing power punching Jeff Simms with a broken collar bone using just his left hand for 8 rounds. Tyson was favourite but he was relentless in destroying Tyrell who after a solid 1st round was broken down and destroyed in 7. Biggs never recovered. Peak performance on par with the Berbick win.
Who Would Have Had Their Arm Raised In Victory? Toney Or Calzaghe??
Tough one. I think Toney is the better all round fighter but Calzaghe´s style is difficult to beat. The Toney who lost to Jones Jr would definately be outhustled with ease. A fully fit James with no problems making weight and in the mood is a difficult man to beat. Calzaghe is fast, fit and durable. Toney struggled with talented boxers like Reggie Johnson, Montell Griffin (x2) and early rounds of Nunn. Calzaghe at his best (Lacy+Kessler) might just be too active.
Carlos Zarate vs Rafael Herrera @ Bantamweight
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Flo_Raiden, . Thoughts on this interesting all-Mexican match up? How does Zarate deal with the guy that pretty much had Ruben Olivares' number at Bantamweight? Herrera was a very underrated fighter who would have been a handful for anyone at the weight. Logic would be an easy win for Zarate but Herrera was a quality fighter. Shame there isn“t much footage of him especially his wars with Rodolfo Martinez.
Dream Sparring Footage?
Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by phil rowe, . After the leak of Haney vs Tank sparring, what is one piece of sparring footage that you would love to see, whether it was rumours over the years of what went down or it was confirmed what happened etc? I would like to have seen when Errol Spence reportedly gave Mayweather that black eye before being kicked out of the gym.
Most boring ATG performances?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Dorrian_Grey, . In your opinion of course I used to think it was Lewis v Tua which anyone ordering prior thought was gonna be a good match…but AJ v Ruiz 2 actually put me to sleep. I’m sure there are more boring fights but man those were let downs Roy Jones Jr-Bernard Hopkins I Nicolino Locche's most well known performance when he beat Paul Fuji to the point of quitting out of frustration isn't really that exciting.
Matchups that looked great on paper that produced duds when they happened
Sometimes you hear two guys are fighting and get super excited to see it … only to be disappointed. Maybe it’s one-sided when you thought it would be competitive, maybe the styles don’t mesh and it’s just a snore bore, maybe it’s a quick KO when you thought it would be a high-skill-level chess match. It certainly happens. Here are a few on my list: Nunn-Kalumbay: I thought this would be two master boxers adjusting and readjusting to figure each other out over the distance.

Your favourite underrated gems?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Dorrian_Grey, . Anything boxing related, be it fights, fighters, or just pieces of boxing of history/trivia you think are underrated but enjoy. Yuh-Demarco 1. Might be the best fight no one outside South Korea ever heard of. Ray Cattouse-George Feeney Britain´s fight of the year in 1982. Intense slugfest, shame one of them had to lose. Is Edwin Rosario the hardest hitting LW of all time?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Thirdtonunn24, . Seeing Viruet get KO’d in just three rounds was pretty surprising imo. Since he went 25 rounds against a prime Duran. And it seems to me that in some threads on this site, and some comments on a Youtube that Rosario gets picked as the hardest hitting LW. Is it true or is it someone else? I personally think Edwin Rosario was the hardest puncher at 135.
Fighters who were destined to lose to another fighter
I can think of 3. One if Tyson vs Spinks. I think that Tyson was the destined conqueror of Spinks. Nothing Spinks could do would have gotten him a victory over prime Mike Tyson. Another was Hearns vs Duran. Prime Hearns would always be the eventual conqueror of Duran. The boxing gods destined Hearns to beat Duran. The third is Archie Moore vs Ezzard Charles. Charles was the kryptonite to Moore's Superman. 3 times and Moore could never beat Charles.
Fighters who fought on with a bad cut/bloody face and won
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Flo_Raiden, . Last weekend's fight between Tszyu and Fundora had me thinking about this. What fighters suffered a bad cut from either a punch, headbutt, or elbow to the point that the blood kept pouring out on their face in the following rounds but they still manage to pull off a win under those circumstances? First fight that comes to mind is Victor Galindez vs Richie Kates.

What's Something From Bygone Days in Boxing.
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Fergy, . That you really wish could return? For me personally? 15 rounds but obviously it ain't happening Fireman Fred and USFBulls727 like this. Inside fighting akin to how Duran, Armstrong and Chavez did it. Fireman Fred and USFBulls727 like this. One belt per division, and fewer divisions. Back to the original 8 + Cruiserweight. The one belt thing is more important though. No more shortcuts to a title. Doubtful that any of this ever happens either.
Bizarre Moments In The Boxing Ring
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by janwalshs, . What are some bizarre, out of the ordinary things that have happened in boxing matches? I mean apart from the usual action, punches, ko's etc. Offhand, I can think of a few: 1. Ali-Quarry 2 when Jerry picked up Ali and made like a pro wrestler when he picked him up and carried him across the ring. 2. Zarate-Zamora when a drunk jumped in the ring and the fight was halted several minutes until he was hauled off. 3.
in the 70s if we were to rank top 3 hardest punchers
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by NewChallenger, . We all know that Earnie and George were the biggest 2. It is unanmiously agreed upon that Earnie was Nr.1 coming from like Ali and other fighters. George was nr.2. Liston doesn't count as he was a 60s fighter. Is it fair to say that Lyle is nr.3? P4P you´d have to think of Alfonso Zamora and Danny Lopez. Liston was ranked in 1970 and is the right answer. But if we're excluding him i'd go for Mac Foster.
