The Tea Dude ‘plays in the kitchen’ to create bold new flavors
Reporting and writing by Michael Roberts This is a story about a dude named Chris. Chris is a dude who builds — builds flavors, builds a community of customers and builds a family business as The Tea Dude. Chris Charek was working as a cook when he got into tea. “I started getting a loose leaf tea just because I wanted something to drink on the line when I was cooking,” he says. When he got bored drinking basic teas, his instincts as a cook took over and he began building flavors.
Restaurant industry veterans launch Divine Food, Spirits, Wine in Cuyahoga Falls
Reporting, writing and photos by Emily Anderson Anyone who has worked in a restaurant here in Akron knows how special the relationships that develop among the employees are. Akron’s service industry workforce is a collection of people who have crossed paths in every direction, forming lifelong friendships and professional connections. It seems like all the bartenders, servers and chefs in Akron know each other, and they’re always ready to support one another however they can.

Stream "hardHeadTorres" By Floco Torres
hardHeadTorres is the third installment in Floco’s Torres series. This series is produced entirely by Mr. Torres himself and we have the first two installments right here:
You Decide...Should Lil Wayne Retire?
After twenty years in the game, is the New Orleans emcee done? Twelve albums, twenty-four mixtapes and a biblical amount of guest appearances make up Lil Wayne’s productive career. Recently, the Young Money captain has made mention of retirement with no true confirmation of going away for good. The world knows of some major issues between Wayne and Birdman preventing The Carter V from releasing for almost three years now. Is it really time for Lil’ Wayne to retire from Hip-Hop?

Living Room Concert Series Presented by Field Note Stenographers. The idea behind the series is to put the focus back on the music by showcasing artists in an intimate setting, i.e. this is not a "full house" kind of show at the Capitol. To be clear, the shows will be housed in the Capitol, but only a portion of it. We'll have more on that later. Just know that tickets will be limited and you won't wanna miss these shows.
Vince Stapes Bodies Funk Flex Freestyle
Some things are just clear and to the point. Vince Staples can rap better than most of your favorite rappers. Yes I know that’s my opinion and you probably haven’t giving the Long Beach emcee an honest listen. No worries you can start with this Funk Flex freestyle. Listen as Vince bodies every part of this Raekwon “Ice Cream” instrumental. Peep the madness below and if you haven’t cop Prima Donna yet, do yourself a favor and head here.
Stream, 'HeartbreakTorres' By Floco Torres

Passions for music and writing intersect
We’re nearing the halfway point of the year, and I hope 2016 has been everything you’ve wanted it to be. We’re dealt obstacles every day of our lives — and this year has been no different — but I try to remind myself that everything works out the way it is supposed to.When I was in college (before I started pursuing a career in music), my journalism professor told us that we should look into other fields as a Plan A.
Finding a clear vision for Macon’s identity
Macon’s ever-changing identity is always a fascinating cycle to watch. The best and most frustrating part about it sometimes is that the rest of the world has no idea that it’s happening. It’s good because we get to try out things and no one steals our new ideas. It’s bad because we’re still looking at the rest of the world like they have it figured out more than we do. I looked up some “reinvent yourself” quotes to help my argument here, but I don’t trust the Internet on its fact-checking anymore.
Ready for Bragg Jam main stage
The second weekend of April has grown to become a pretty significant weekend to me for the past few years. After a slow start to the first quarter, things really start to pick for me, schedule-wise.The Magnolia Soapbox Derby and Bearstock fall on that Saturday, while the beginning of the new Second Sunday falls the next day.
'Don't be afraid of first class'
For the past four years, this past week has been a struggle for me. From March 16-20, Austin Texas hosts SXSW (South by Southwest), one of the music industry's largest music/tech/networking festivals. When I first started out in music, I knew about the festival but figured it was something that only the artists that were "on" got to go to. I attended the festival in 2014 as a spectator and had a lot of fun.
EAR TO THE GROUND: How to keep your local artists alive
I want to thank everyone who came out to the City Auditorium for our Macon Pops event last Friday.
EAR TO THE GROUND: Congrats! You're fancy now
As a consumer also interested in successful marketing, I find myself analyzing trends more than shopping when I'm in the store. My latest fascination has been with the "organic versus non-organic" situation.
Torres: Let's not pretend race still isn't an issue
I'm a young black man living in America in 2015 and I'm confused and slightly annoyed. I'm confused because it seems like everyone is fighting and I can't keep up.I'm slightly annoyed because I have to pretend that being black in America doesn't make me feel like Will Smith in the "Enemy of the State" movie.Let's address being confused first.
