Seeing as I’m heading to Korea next week, today I’m going to share my favorite Korean restaurant from my old home turf in Michigan. Outside of Korea, Tomukun in Ann Arbor is my favorite Korean BBQ joint. Prior to moving to Japan, my ideal Friday night would be spending 2-3 hours at Tomukun with my best friend Jullia and catching up on life whilst stuffing our faces with the feast before us (see photo above for example).
By now, it’s no surprise that a simple change of scenery can do wonders for creativity. Do you too find that to be true? Well, if you find yourself in Nagasaki with some time to kill, take a day trip out to Omura and go relax at Cafe Olivea. Cafe Olivea is the kind of place one might go on a Sunday afternoon when you don’t want to do anything too strenuous but still want to get out of the house.
In a land where fried and processed foods prevail, Cafe Tresbe is a Godsend. On a food tour around the city of San Juan is when I first tried this place, and I ended up going back twice because the food was so good. Try any of the tacos or sliders on the menu and get the papaya smoothie. It’s all fresh and locally sourced full of protein, tomatoes, various root vegetables special to Puerto Rico, and sprinkled with a little lime juice.
