Materials | Free Full-Text | Identification of Destruction Processes and Assessment of Deformations in Compressed Concrete Modified with Polypropylene Fibers Exposed to Fire Temperatures Using Acoustic Emission Signal Analysis, Numerical Analysis, and Dig
1. Introduction As is well known, it is possible to add polypropylene fibers to the concrete mix to ensure ductility, improve mechanical properties, and extend durability. This creates polypropylene-fiber-reinforced concrete (PPFRC). Thus, from a simple material, concrete becomes a complex solution that can be adapted to specific applications [1,2].
Barkhausen Noise Emission as a Function of Tensile Stress in Low-Alloyed Steels: Influence of Corrosion and Steel Strength
3.2. MBN Measurements It has already been reported that corroded bodies emit lower MBN [14,15,16]. The physical background of this behavior has been explained as a result of different effects and their superimposing contributions.
Fibre-Reinforced Polymers and Steel for the Reinforcement of Wooden Elements—Experimental and Numerical Analysis
Abstract : These elements are innovative and of interest to many researchers for the reinforcement of wooden elements. For the reinforced beam elements, the effect of the reinforcement factor, FRP and steel elastic modulus or FRP and steel arrangement of the reinforcement on the performance of the flexural elements was determined, followed by reading the load-displacement diagram of the reinforced beam elements.
An Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Glued Laminated Beams Strengthened by Pre-Stressed Basalt Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Bars
Abstract : Damage often develops in glued laminated timber members under high bending loads due to natural defects in the timber, which results in their low load-bearing capacity and stiffness. In order to improve the bending mechanical properties of glulam beams, a new type of longitudinal glulam reinforcement with pre-stressed basalt fibre-reinforced polymer composites (BFRP) was developed using the Near Surface Mounted (NSM) technique.
Mechanical Properties of Corroded Reinforcement
5. Evaluation of Results and Discussion The yield strength and tensile strength, determined from the minimum cross-sectional area determined on corroded reinforcements, are higher than the yield strength and tensile strength obtained on non-corroded samples. This has been documented on both CRS and TMT reinforcement.
