Introduction Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Ammonia (NH3) is a fundamental building block in the chemical industry and is considered a promising carrier of carbon-free hydrogen energy. (1−3) In the synthesis of NH3 via the Haber–Bosch (HB) process, 1–2% of global energy is consumed for NH3 synthesis, including hydrogen formation from natural gas (mainly CH4), and 1.5–1.9 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission per ton of NH3 comes from the former H2 production process.
