THE DIAGNOSTIC AND PROGNOSTIC ROLE OF CARDIAC BIOMARKERS IN PREDICTING MAJOR ADVERSE CARDIAC EVENTS IN PATIENTS WITH SUSPECTED GENETIC CARDIOMYOPATHIES
Patients with genetic cardiomyopathies experience high morbidity and mortality. These patients require prompt cardiac assessments and early interventions to prevent progression to advanced heart failure. Plasma biomarkers, such as B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), and high-sensitive troponin T (hsTropT) may be able to prognosticate major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in this group of patients.

FiguresBioprosthetic xenogeneic valves tend to deteriorate over time, termed structural valve deterioration (SVD), leading to valvular dysfunction. Several studies have hypothesized that SVD is a result of a chronic immune-mediated rejection process; however, a paucity of data exists demonstrating conclusively this is the case.
