Evaluation of a paraffin‐based moisturizer compared to a ceramide‐based moisturizer in children with atopic dermatitis: A double‐blind, randomized controlled trial
Abstract Background Moisturizers are first-line therapy for treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD). Although there are multiple types of moisturizers available, head-to-head trials between different moisturizers are limited. Objective To evaluate if a paraffin-based moisturizer is as effective as ceramide-based moisturizer in children with AD.
Increase in concentration of patch test allergen reduces patch test occlusion time to 12 hours without affecting patch test reactivity in patients with parthenium dermatitis
Background Patch testing is the standard method to diagnose contact allergy. Patches are applied for 48 hours, which is inconvenient to patients in tropical weather. Therefore, we evaluated different patch test occlusion times with increased concentrations of an allergen to determine if occlusion time can be reduced without compromising on patch test positivity.
Development of a Clinical Diagnostic Matrix for characterising Inherited Epidermolysis Bullosa
Accurately diagnosing the subtype of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is critical for management and genetic counseling. Modern laboratory techniques are largely inaccessible in developing countries, where the diagnosis remains clinical and often inaccurate. To develop a simple clinical diagnostic tool to aid in the diagnosis and sub typing of EB. We developed a matrix indicating presence or absence of a set of distinctive clinical features (rows) for the 9 more prevalent EB subtypes (columns).
