Mapping Livestock Distribution in Australia: An Estimate to Annual Domestic Livestock Densities from 1788 to 1980
Domestic livestock statistics across all Australian jurisdictions have been collected since 1788. Cattle, sheep and horse numbers for the period were digitised from paper sources. Statistical District boundaries were also digitised from mapping sources for each year and coded to link to the digitised livestock records.

Why ICE Agents Fear Powerful Women
Renee Good says to Ross as he walks around her vehicle: “It’s okay, I’m not mad at you, dude!” It’s an over-broad statement that contains an over-broad assumption. But it needs to be said. Last Saturday I posted this piece about the shooting of Renee Nicole Good. I concluded that the two officers involved in the attempted detention and shooting “seem to have felt threatened by [Renee and Becca Good’s] lack of fear — and possibly by the fact that they were gay.
Trump's Unitary Executive Power Seize
On February 18, 2025, Trump issued an executive order in which he declared that only he and the Attorney General “shall provide authoritative interpretations of the law for the executive branch.” Just before that, Trump posted on TruthSocial: “He who saves his country does not violate any law.” Though the Executive Order doesn’t explicitly say so, it means that according to Trump, Supreme Court rulings are no longer to be considered “authoritative interpretations of the law” in relation to...
Sexually Frustrated Authoritarian Men
What Trump and Musk are doing is authoritarian. The Unitary Executive and Closed Family Systems align with authoritarianism. Is sexual frustration a driver? In January 2006, I wrote this article, which essentially broke the news about then President G.W. Bush’s use of the sort of new, so-called “UNITARY EXECUTIVE” theory to issue presidential signing statements in which he signed a law while reserving the president’s “right” to ignore parts of it.
What Can You Do Now? Use Guerrilla Tactics
Just now Trump’s team are testing the waters and seeing what sticks, what they can get away with. They will work from there. And while we’re all distracted by the “big” events that get reversed, they will sneak in in other ways. The only way to fight this is to get ahead of it. We are all in response mode. “Let’s see what he does next and we’ll respond to it then.” No, that is how they get away with shit. What is needed and has been needed all along is to shut him down before it gets worse.
Trump's Followers Versus the Rest of Us: Age of the Troglodytes
Even if Trump fails at everything he claims he will do, his followers will have faith. He’s human after all, but believe he should be revered like a God for trying. Trump’s followers delight when he says he will go after those people who came after him. Revenge feels so sweet to people who have lost over and over again. A large percentage of Americans have voted Trump into office a second time. The rest of us are horrified. What does this mean for our future?
Women’s Bodies Belong to Women
Men who say they believe they own women’s bodies are self-identifying as Neanderthals, a species that lived some 40,000 to 400,000 years ago. Let us bring them up to date. • Women have (and have always had) the right to self-defense. You attack one of us; we can and will defend ourselves—wwith lethal force if necessary. • Did you forget about the Second Amendment? In the great U.S. of America, which you cave men wish to claim as your birthright, women have the right to arm ourselves.
Hypnotic Suggestion in Trump's Toolbelt
The only defense against hypnotic suggestions is to learn to identify the hypnotic method — in this case, the confusion technique. It’s confusing to listen to Trump. The only defense against hypnotic suggestions is to learn to identify the hypnotic method — in this case, the confusion technique. It’s confusing to listen to Trump. There was a discussion on NPR the other day about Trump’s rambling, incoherent speeches. These are not just of interest because they suggest an unhinged mind.
Deciding Whether Trump Is/Is Not Immune Falls to Lower Courts
It is not SCOTUS who will decide whether Trump is or is not immune. It is the federal courts: the district courts and courts of appeal (federal circuit courts). Trump's immunity win may not be quite as scary as we fear it to be. Deciding whether his, or any President's actions, are immune will fall to the circuit and federal courts and likely won't be taken up to the Supreme Courts. It's bad - but not as bad as you think. Let’s get into this.
How will Felon Trump Fare in the Mar-a-Lago Classified Documents Case ?
Judge Aileen Cannon of Florida appears to be biased in favor of Donald Trump. You can file a complaint against her. Here's how... Given Judge Cannon's ongoing, clear pro-Trump bias from the get-go in this case, I have gathered everything you need to know in order to file a complaint against her. Anybody can do this! Here is the “How to File a Complaint” page.
The Trump World: A Projection of His Own Failings
Trump isn’t going to fix the supposed evils he projects onto his opponents. He is, in fact, the one creating this uncrossable divide between Americans. It is Trump who has divided this nation. It is he who continues to do so. Trump continues to set us up with the choice between being either loyal supporters of him OR enemies of the Trump state. In his view, HE IS the state.
Fool Us Twice? Shame on Us!
In April 1807, during the Aaron Burr trial, President Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to a U.S. Senator that contained a shocking proposal, one that — had it been carried out according to the President’s wishes — would have changed the fabric of our nation forever. Jefferson proposed that the Constitution be amended to remove the independence of the judiciary. Had Jefferson been successful, there would be no Supreme Court. There’d be Donald Trump trying to retain or regain power.
Why Did SCOTUS Deny Jack Smith’s Expedited Petition for Review?
Legal expert, George Conway, theorized that the Circuit Court will hear the appeal and decide “within days” by early January and the trial will go ahead in timely fashion. CNN “senior legal analyst” Elle Honig believes that SCOTUS rejected Jack Smith’s petition to the Supreme Court on Trump's immunity claim because Smith won’t say he wants the matter decided before the election.
What to Know About Gag Orders!
Are the courts destroying our First Amendment freedom of speech (as Trump argues)? OR are they protecting our judicial processes and the Sixth Amendment right to a fair trial? Let’s get into this a bit. There are three competing principles involved here: • the First Amendment right to free speech, • the Sixth Amendment right to a fair trial, and • (the fair and orderly administration of justice. To be clear, many areas of law involve (and must find ways to resolve) competing interests.
Archetypal Thinking Leads to Greater Empathy
The most effective memory system ever invented by humans allowed non-literate cultures to memorize the vast amounts of information they needed to survive. Recently, I posted a piece that briefly described "archetypal thinking" and offered to teach it to my Medium subscribers. The main business of archetypal thinking is to arrive at an understanding of someone else's life.
Deep Dive into Judge Aileen Cannon
Given her bare minimum experience in law practice and her relative youth, it is perhaps surprising that the Senate did not scrutinize her more carefully. Judge Aileen Mercedes Cannon, born in Columbia of a Cuban mother and American father, was raised in Miami. I recently did a short bio and astrological analysis of her here.

The Future of Autocracy
Here’s a nightmare scenario: Unable to recruit enough soldiers from the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin takes North Korean leader Kim Jong-un up on his recent offer to send 100,000 North Koreans to join the Russian president’s ill-fated attempt to seize Ukraine. Kim has also promised to send North Korean workers to help rebuild that country’s Donbas region, parts of which Russian forces have destroyed in order to “save” it.
Why Does American Media Love British Royalty
In general, the mainstream media all make certain basic assumptions, like the necessity of maintaining a welfare state for the rich. Within that framework, there's some room for differences of opinion, and it's entirely possible that the major media are toward the liberal end of that range. In fact, in a well-designed propaganda system, that's exactly where they should be.
Sex and Power in Martha’s Vineyard
So DeSantis and Abbott fly 50 immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard. It’s shocking. It’s outrageous. It’s misuse of public funds and it’s probably illegal in a bunch of ways. What does this have to do with sex and power? Sex scandals and Republicans have a history. The recent report alleging that Matt Gaetz asked Trump for a pre-emptive pardon for anticipated sex trafficking charges highlights a recurring question that deserves some attention. Why do Republicans seem to have so many sex scandals?

Ugliest Dog Contest and Democracy's Future Intertwined in Petaluma
That future arrived with an unsexy name–the Petaluma Fairgrounds Advisory Panel, a version of a type of democratic body that is gaining popularity from Japan to Ireland. In Petaluma, they called this a “lottery-selected panel.” Its more common name is “citizens’ assembly.” Citizens’ assemblies are composed of everyday people, chosen by lottery, rather than elected officials.

Names such as MoneyLion, Varos, CashApp, Chime, Revolut, Tangerine, and Wise are all too common. However popular, none of these hold the prestige title of being the ‘trailblazer’ to the niche. What was the first mobile banking app in the world? What country did it come from? None of these brands are the answer to these questions.
Mobile Banking Apps vs Crypto-Banks vs Traditional Banks: Facts, Pros, & Cons
As modern times create new age ecosystems of business and lifestyle, it has also begun to create different needs for how people store and access money. Whereas in the 1980s, traditional banking was the only option, in 2022 things are very different. Today people can utilize the strictly regulated traditional bank, mobile banking apps, or even cryptocurrency banks to easily move money.
Call It What It Is: A Republican Circle Jerk
After former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home was searched by the FBI under a warrant issued by Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart of the U.S. District of Court for the Southern District of Florida, Republican politicians spouted a host of wildly erroneous remarks, mostly accusing Democrats of trying “to politically harm and intimidate their political opponents.” Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said the search was “an unprecedented assault on democratic norms and the rule of law.
Why Valuation Is a Pivotal Part of Pre-Revenue Startup Fundraising Efforts
Fundraising is the process by which entrepreneurs secure finance from venture capitalists, investors, and other providers. Valuation is a pivotal part of this process since investors must carefully assess the risk they’re taking and estimate the best returns they can expect from the investment. Traditional valuation methods are not applicable because pre-revenue startups have yet to make adequate sales to display impressive profits.
What to Do If You Lose Your Job
COVID-19 had detrimental effects on many Americans. For months, people experienced long periods of isolation, excessive media consumption, and the passing of friends and family members. Perhaps one of the biggest losses was employment. Quarantine restrictions led to the closure or downsizing of many businesses across all industries, especially those related to live entertainment, food service, and hospitality. Though some companies have been able to restart, some never recovered.
How the Arms Industry Scams the Taxpayer
Congress has spoken when it comes to next year’s Pentagon budget and the results, if they weren’t so in line with past practices, should astonish us all. The House of Representatives voted to add $37 billion and the Senate $45 billion to the administration’s already humongous request for “national defense,” a staggering figure that includes both the Pentagon budget and work on nuclear weapons at the Department of Energy.
If Jefferson Did It, Can Trump?
The issues raised by Trump’s retention of presidential documents (“It’s not theirs, it’s mine”) – state secrets, executive privilege, and national security – are not new but few people know that some of these very same issues were raised by Aaron Burr during his trial for treason in 1807. The context was different: Jefferson was the sitting President and was not being investigated. The incident nonetheless reveals the fundamental flaws in Trump’s logic.
