Gary Potter - Where Do We Go From Here? | Economy | Before It's News
“As It Is In Heaven: Christian Living and Social Order” By Gary Potter. Gary Potter has been a Catholic journalist and writer of the first rank for over fifty years. As a convert to the Faith during the 1960s, (that time of revolutionary turmoil in the Church and the world), he developed a unique perspective on the Church in the 20th century that has matured over the years into a deep and penetrating vision of our times and the place of the Church and the Faith in the politics of our age.

Looking ahead on the road to recovery
The global economy looks to be on the road to recovery, and more importantly, we are optimistic that it is set to continue into 2022. Our optimism is based on two key factors: firstly, the growing confidence in the global vaccination programme and secondly, the ongoing science behind the solution. Whilst there may be more twists and turns to come, the roadmap for continuing recovery in economies is undented and 2022 is looking to be a more normal year, certainly from a pandemic point of view.

Against Critical Race and Gender Theory
The struggle that has gone on for two centuries between righteous men seeking to safeguard true liberty and attached to family, community, tradition and God, and forces arrayed against them that would reduce everyone and everything to the lowest possible common denominator by imposing equality in the name of false freedom seems to have reached an acute stage lately.

Gary Potter: Don't write value off just yet - Money Marketing
The terms ‘value’ and ‘growth’ as investment styles are over-generalised because within each category there are varying degrees of purity. Nevertheless, in its broadest sense, value – which typically tends to have greater cyclicality and less sensitivity to interest rates – is now the most shunned for some time. Since the global financial crisis, the S&P 500 US Value index has underperformed its growth counterpart by 108 per cent through to the end of last year.

The Conversion of Russia
The Mother of God, in 1929, forecast to Sr. Lucy, the Fatima seer, that if Russia were consecrated to her Immaculate Heart by the Pope and the world’s bishops in union with him, it would be converted. Ever since then, faithful Catholics have prayed for this as a precondition to promised world peace. However, the immediate object of their prayer, the conversion of Russia, might better be considered the country’s reconversion.

Investment insight: Cheap funds can be a false economy
Cost is an important factor in the generation of investment returns – this much is beyond dispute. Fund charges are always going to be a drag on investment performance and so lower charges will help to improve aggregate returns. The good news is that the costs of investment management are, on the whole, falling and the regulatory backdrop is supportive of this trend.
Planning is the key to a stress-free remodeling project | Produced by Advertising Publications
May 15, 2019 at 10:46 am Special to NWhomes Q: We’re considering a major remodel of our dining area. The possibilities are exciting, but this is our first remodel and we’re a little stressed out about getting the details right. Any advice? A: One thing we always hear from first-time clients is that they’re stressed out because they’ve never been through the remodeling process before. Without knowing all the necessary steps, they’re unsure where the project will lead them and what it will involve.
How can I make my small ‘box’ home feel larger? | Produced by Advertising Publications
There are endless options to add more breathing room to your space, from tearing down unnecessary walls to rearranging or adding to your space. Q: I live in a small home — less than 900 square feet — that was built post-World War II. The design, also known as a “War Box,” has no entryway, three small bedrooms, one bathroom and little storage. What can I do to make my space feel larger and more functional?
Investment Insight: Do not take recession noise too seriously
Warnings of another recession appear exaggerated, with economics and corporate profits still going strong We are entering a time of the year that has traditionally proved to be somewhat more volatile than other periods in the calendar. Whether this year follows the same pattern remains to be seen.
Investment Insight: How to pick a multi-manager fund
In an increasingly outcome-driven world, do not put all your eggs in one basket this Easter. Everyone should understand the old adage that putting all your eggs in one basket tends to be a more risky strategy. Diversifying across a range of asset types, geographies, investment managers and securities is a sensible way to go. An adviser’s job is increasingly complex and time-consuming, with the investment component just one facet of their growing responsibility towards a client.
SPONSORED | When you need more space, is it better to go up, out or down?
When it’s time to add living space to your home, it’s good to know what your options are. Q: We need more space in our cramped quarters. What’s the best option to attack our square footage situation? A: When it’s time to add space, it’s good to know what your options are. Is it easier to go up by adding a second floor? To go out with an addition on the same level? Or go down by cleaning up the basement, digging down or lifting the house for more headroom?
White nationalist set to bring resumé of hate to Lexington
Matthew Heimbach of the Traditionalist Workers Party has indicated that he and his followers may come to Lexington to protest the proposed moving of Confederate statues. I suspect that very few Lexingtonians actually know much about Heimbach. He says he is an advocate of “free speech” and “Southern heritage.” Or is he something very different? Heimbach, a 26-year-old Indiana resident, is an emerging leader of the white nationalist movement in the United States.
SPONSORED | HomeWork: Turn that old basement into a light-filled living space
A basement can be a tricky space to work with due to its low ceiling, uneven floor and posts to hold up the center of the house. Q: We have an old, damp basement we’d love to better utilize. Any tips for getting started? A: Many of the oldest homes in the great Northwest have basements, but the problem is that they weren’t designed for entertaining or even family use. They were meant for storing coal, canned goods and farm tools.

The History Of Policing In The United States, Part 1
Written by Dr. Gary Potter The development of policing in the United States closely followed the development of policing in England. In the early colonies policing took two forms. It was both informal and communal, which is referred to as the "Watch," or private-for-profit policing, which is called "The Big Stick” (Spitzer, 1979). The watch system was composed of community volunteers whose primary duty was to warn of impending danger.
The History of Policing in the United States, Part 3
By: Dr. Gary Potter In the post-Civil War era, municipal police departments increasingly turned their attention to strike-breaking. By the late 19th century union organizing and labor unrest was widespread in the United States. New York City had 5,090 strikes, involving almost a million workers from 1880 to 1900; Chicago had 1,737 strikes, involving over a half a million workers in the same period (Barkan 2001; Harring 1983).
