Why did you become a journalist?

As a youngster, writing was one of the few things I did well. I played to my strengths.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes. I was a reporter during my senior year.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Chronicling the need for additional funding for developmentally disabled children programs in my county.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Learn to listen between the lines.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Weekdays in the afternoon, Pacific time.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A pitch on new energy-saving technology for ocean-going cargo ships. It was an innovative product that disrupted traditional thinking.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

CBD oil crap.

What's your favorite drink?

Hefeweizen

Walking my two golden retrievers.
