Gary Grumbach’s Biography

Gary Grumbach is a producer in the Washington bureau of NBC News, a network he has called home for more than seven years. Always with a “go-bag” nearby, he’s ready to hit the road, and the skies, for any reason, at any time. Gary’s coverage of late has included the federal and state indictments of former President Trump, the trials of January 6th defendants, Virginia politics, the homecoming of American prisoners held abroad, and weather impacts and clean-up - just to name a few. Stories he’s pitched and reported take him to in-the-field breaking news and enterprise environments. Gary's on-air reporting has appeared on NBC Nightly News, MSNBC, NBC News Now, Sky News, and local NBC affiliates around the country. Previously, Gary was a NBC News campaign embed, covering the 2020 presidential candidates, and embedding with Senator Bernie Sanders’ campaign during the primary election.

Gary graduated from Elon University in North Carolina, and grew up in New Jersey, where he was involved in hot air ballooning in his free time. He lives in Washington, D.C.
