Chemotherapy‐Induced Neuropathy Affecting the Gastrointestinal Tract
Cancer survivorship is increasing, thanks to early detection, more effective therapies, and supportive care, but sequelae of treatment may occur in the long term in these patients. Chemotherapy (with/without immunotherapy/radiotherapy) may induce neurotoxic effects on the gastrointestinal innervation.
Effects of vincristine and monosodium glutamate on gastrointestinal motility and visceral sensitivity
Chemotherapy produces many adverse effects. Gastrointestinal dysmotility, neuropathic pain, and gut histological damage were induced by repeated vincristine in rats. The food additive monosodium glutamate (MSG) included in drinking water prevented some of the gut motility disturbances induced by vincristine and decreased colorectal sensitivity in rats treated with this antitumoral drug. The use of dietary MSG could be useful in the context of cancer chemotherapy.

4. Materials and Methods The study was designed and tests were performed according to the European and Spanish legislation on care and use of experimental animals (2010/63/UE for animal experiments; Real Decreto 53/2013) and received the required institutional approval (PROEX 061/18). All efforts were made to reduce the number of animals used and their suffering. The NIH Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals was applied at all stages of the research.

1. Introduction It is estimated that more than 4 million women are living in the US with a history of invasive breast cancer as of January 1, 2023, an additional 297,790 women will be newly diagnosed in 2023 (Siegel et al., 2023). With innovations in cancer therapy, survival rates have increased from 75% when diagnosed in the mid-70s to 90% as of 2017 (Siegel et al., 2023). With an increase in long-term survivorship, long-term symptoms that may follow the treatment of cancer have been identified.
Pepsin egg white hydrolysate ameliorates metabolic syndrome in high-fat/high-dextrose fed rats
The aim of this study was to examine the effect of a pepsin egg white hydrolysate (EWH) on metabolic complications using a high-fat/high-dextrose diet-induced Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) experimental model. Male Wistar rats where divided in 4 groups which received: standard diet and water (C), standard diet and a solution with 1g/kg/day of EWH (CH), high-fat/high-dextrose diet and water (MS), and high-fat/high-dextrose diet and a solution with 1g/kg/day of EWH (MSH).
