To cap off Smelted, VAV’s most recent student-run exhibition, some of the artists spoke about their pieces and the mediums they used to showcase their quest for identity. The 11 students selected for this exhibition used funky materials such as terracotta, sofa cushions and even candy to express aspects of their individual identities. Using media  ranging from acrylic and oil paint to woodworking and photography, the artists explored themes related to materialism, health and sexuality.

Environmental Activism Blooms With Quebec Front Against Fossil Fuels | News

Today, the network of 60 environmental groups is still active, and many still take part in the Mouvement Desjardins, a campaign led by Greenpeace that’s working to put pressure on the Desjardins bank to remove its investments in fossil fuels, This winter, Desjardins gave a loan of $145 million to Kinder Morgan for the TransMountain pipeline in Western Canada. If Desjardins divested from fossil fuels it would become the first bank in Canada to officially cut the investment of fossil energies.
