For nearly two decades, I managed, edited and wrote for The PEG magazine, along with other publications and online platforms, while employed by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. My time at APEGA presented me with some great communications challenges and opportunities, including switching a newspaper to a magazine, and managing the creation and launch of the ePEG.
I started my career at the Lacombe Globe in Alberta and later worked for several Victoria-area newspapers. Returning to Alberta in 1993, I became the editor and a part owner of the Ponoka News. I've also been a humour columnist off and on, including a stint of self-syndicating that lasted about a decade. Freelance writing and photography have also been a big part of my career.
These days, I'm a press gallery reporter at the provincial legislature in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm also a podcaster with one existing product and another in development. Unsettled: Journeys in Truth and Conciliation, is a joint venture with Jessica Vandenberghe and her consultancy, Guiding Star.
I'm also do freelance or contract technical and business editing and photography.
