Membership Software for local club
My local club has about 700 members, I am looking at updating what we do to keep membership data flowing in the correct direction. What are other club operators using to streamline your membership data? I am looking at something like a modified version of Join It. Thanks Georg
Now that Lynn has passed.
First off I am very sorry to hear that Lynn Gipson has passed and that leads to the question of who will be taking his place and what is the clear and proper selection process? Does the ATA bring up someone who is founded in the tradition of our sport but also will to adopt modern promotional methods or will it be someone from the old guard. Not trying to offend anyone just asking the question.
GENERAL NOTICE TO ALL FORUM MEMBERS
I am putting this notice up to bring attention to a scam angle that is being played on the forum and it has been recurring over the years but has been spiking this year. 1.
Looking at video/indoor shotgun training what is the most reliable and what is the best?
#1 · Im putting this out there as with all things different training angles are beneficial and I putting this thread out there to see what is available--what forum members are currently using--what is the best system but also what is a fail and not worth it at any price. Thanks in advance for replys, George
A note to our members and readers regarding AI generated postings.
Im posting this note in regards to the latest round of screen names using AI to respond to threads on the forum. This forum is about providing real human interaction about the sport of trapshooting and other clay target disciplines and having accurate and good info for those seeking answers to various shotguning questions. To those using AI generated garbage it will be deleted and screen names banned. George
Talking 1100s
Good morning, everyone! I just joined the community and wanted to stop by, say hi. I’m really looking forward to diving into the threads here and getting to know you all. I believe the Remington 1100 is the best shotgun ever made. I’ve used it for both trap and skeet, and the reliability and reduced recoil are just hard to beat. It has a balance that modern polymers just can’t seem to replicate for me. I’d love to hear your thoughts: * Is the 1100 still the king of the range for you?
ISO Krieghoff K80
Looking to unload my Kolar and get into a K80. Ideally i’d like to get my hands on a Gold Plantation Scroll with a nickel finish. I believe they made them in the past if i’m not mistaken. #1 · Looking to unload my Kolar and get into a K80. Ideally i’d like to get my hands on a Gold Plantation Scroll with a nickel finish. 2026 Grand American if you need a campsite thread.
If you are looking for a campsite for the 2026 Grand American and are not able to book a spot at times there are forum members that are not able to make it and will offer up their spot to someone who can. That is what this thread is for----if you are renting out a spot in your house--garage--back yard---etc. do not post it here.

Just putting this up trying to figure out how to be able to reply to buy something off marketplace
Renting out club for special events
I have a question for those who are in club management at their local clubs. What is your normal procedure/use parameters and rates that you charge? We are currently evaluating this at my club and I am seeking input on where others are at. Thanks in advance, George

AI generated replies to threads forum wide.
Iam serving notice right now that we will not tolerate AI generated replies to threads. I deleted one on the Scott Wright thread that made me want to puke. Post from real world experience and keep forums about people their passions and experiences and not get infested with lifeless AI content. George
Local Club JR. Membership Question
I am interested in to see how clubs across the country structure Memberships for their JR. Members. At what age? What Rate? Do they combo with a family membership? Basically I am gathering information as we look at restructuring ours. Thanks in advance George
TS Poster Maltzahn...
The old boy (78) must have been allowed to take two shots at every target. I see he broke 100 in an earlier singles event, too. I guess there's hope for the rest of us old geezers.
Getting into ATA?
Hello, I'm a long time shooter and hold almost every NRA instructor certification. I've competed in various shooting disciplines including USPSA, IDPA, SASS, and "Bianchi Cup." I'm easily most proficient with pistols, followed by rifles. Recently I added NRA shotgun instructor to my portfolio and it lit a spark. My shooting interests tend to vary. For a few years I'll do muzzleloaders, then I'm more interested in pistols, then long range precision rifles, etc.
Release trigger. I have made the switch!
Over the last couple of years or so, I have been struggling with a persistent flinch that kept getting worse and worse. I'd call pull, bear down on the target and couldn't pull the trigger. It was very frustrating and I was losing tournaments by one or two targets and got reduced from Master Class to AA in Sporting Clays. I took my K80 and KX6 to Kerry Allor to have release triggers installed and I couldn't be happier. It's the best move I've made in years.
The ATA "hits" keep on coming... yippee
I've been sending in an annual renewal for many years now. I usually write out a paper check. This year I stupidly wrote my credit card number on the form for payment... (I say stupidly, not just because of this rude and annoying convenience fee that they probably grab from 30,0000 or so, or us = $18,000... but it's just a matter of time until the ATA website is hacked and there goes my mastercard onto the dark web).
How do you fund your youth program???
So I am going to put this question out for the coaches and admin of youth programs====I understand the funding processes that we use but I am looking for input from people across the nation on how they go about funding their AIM teams and other youth programs.
Trap house paint and or finish
So every couple of years we paint our trap houses, they are cinder block with a rubber roofing. I know many have metal roofs etc. What I am interested in is what forum members who work at their local clubs finish the blocks on their trap houses with. I am always open to new ideas. Thanks in advance George
Thanks Phil Kiner!
I just wanted to extend a thank you to Phil Kiner for conducting a excellent clinc this weekend at Flathead Valley Clay Target Club. He worked hard right up till the ver end and his video analysis was excellent. If scheduling works out we will have him back next year.
Anyone try Briley Helix chokes ?
So . . . . . anyone tried the Briley Helix chokes ?
Ref. Second Party Sales and Purchases in the Member Classifieds
In light of one of our members getting monumentally screwed on second party sale I am going to remind everyone and reinforce that fact that the rule for second party sales and purchases in the Trapshooters.com Member Classifieds is that they are simply not allowed........PERIOD. We understand that some of you want to do the following.
Ammo purchasing programs
I had a great conversation with a rep for fiochi ammunition yesterday, they have started a new youth clay sports shell program that would be worth checking out.

Beretta 391 32” barrel question
i am embarrassed to ask but - did beretta ever offer the 391 12ga model with a 32” flat sport rib mobil or optima — ive traded many 32” steprib barrels but i cant recall ever handling the flat sport rib type ????
Any hope of vendors coming back to shoots?
I used to really enjoy traveling to trap shoots to look at guns, watch people shoot, ect. I've always said I've probably been to more major ATA shoots than most actual trap shooters, and have never even shot a single ATA target (closest I've come is 1 round on a demo trap @ Sparta). I've been to Vandalia once, Sparta twice, Cardinal and Elysburg probably 10x each, and Cicero probably half a dozen times.
Lenses for post 4 frames
L+M Lenses in NY I believe still advertises lenses for P4. I think he took over when the gentleman passed. 802-343-0828
Official Looking for a Campsite at the 2025 Grand Thread.
If you are looking for a campsite for this years Grand American or will not be able to attend and have a campsite to offer then this is the thread to use for that purpose. 1. First contact the ATA for a site. 2. If the ATA cannot help you then post here that you are as members at times are not using their site for the full Grand or not able to attend and would consider allowing use of their campsite.

$800, which is 10x the yearly membership. Complimentary after I believe 20 years of membership and 65 years old. Youth shoot for a reduced rate, I want to say $3 vs $4.50 for regular member.
Happy Thanksgiving 2024
On behalf of the mod team and site ownership we would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We have a lot to be thankful for, personally I am looking forward to a productive and stable upcoming year. Take the time to reflect on the past--present and the future, remember we have a great sport--great friends and family and special bond that many sports do not have. Be with family and have a great Thanksgiving Day.
Gun Club Insurance Policy Cancelled
The Missoula trap and skeet club just sent out a temporary closure notice due to the insurance policy not being renewed. There was virtually no notice given by the insurance provider. It sounds like this is a widespread issue all across the country. Have other clubs been seen this as well ? Is there a company that’s stepping up and taking on gun clubs?
Need to get a message to another shooter at the 2024 Grand? Post on this thread.
#1 · I'm putting this thread up so that it can be used as a message board if you are trying to find another shooter at this year's Grand. Thanks George

Shout out to Wally at ACSS (Atchison County Shooting Sports)
I wanted to give a big thank you shout out to Wally at Atchison County Shooting Sports in ref. to a Beretta semi auto project that we worked out for a student I have been working with. Short story is that she is a woman in her 70s who came to me with a goal and some issues that had to be worked thru. Her goal was to be able to shoot clay targets and also be able to hunt birds with her dog.
Handicap Systems Ruin Leagues
#1 · Black 25's have ruined leagues. 23's are automatic for me (not trying to boast) but worse shooters than me are often higher contributors to teams. Carrying a handicap should not allow you to post a 25. I always felt like ATA was an "everyone gets a trophy" culture with the 9 categories (especially Junior Gold, they're men!) but that's what this feels like. Should clubs be giving out 25 patches for shooters that post a 21 + 4 handicap birds?
Want To Buy - Want buy rib or whole barrel for Perazzi...
I'm seeking a rib or a whole BL for a Perazzi MX2000/10 This would be the top single, please let me know what you have as I mainly want the rib but would look at the whole BL. option too. Thanks in advance, George
Northwest Shot
Just checking in for a update to see if any clubs have shipped shot to Northwest lately for redrop? Thanks George
Scott MacDonald from Pro Rib Passes
#1 · Some sad news out of CO as Scot MacDonald passed away last week, great guy to do business with and a straight shooter. He will be missed greatly RIP Scott. Respectfully George Sort by #2 · So sad to hear this news. Prayers for family.

Ismay MT
Ismay is closer to North and South Dakota than some clubs in MT. almost 200 miles to Huntley. Are you looking for registered shoots or just a place to shoot while you are there?
Briley spectrum or Muller for 391 12 gauge?
Pure Gold 10 or 15 too for the intended use you detail. I keep a PG 10 in my 391 Mobilchoke for those same needs; knocks down ducks, doves & 60 yard crossers
Yup. New.
I know, right? When Archery Talk did this same thing, they let you make a bunch of bogus posts to get over the threshold. I've been a member there for years. Bought a bunch of stuff over the years. 4 bows, bunch of equipment. ect. I get it.. bad actors, scammers ruin it for everyone. but, damn.. i just got into reloading and wanted a couple boxes of once fired hulls. And no offense to anyone on here, but I don't want to contribute. I don't. I did the whole forum thing back in the late 90's.
Shooting the 16 yard line---everything but the choke-how do you approach the 16 yard line
So we have tons of discussion on what choke for the 16 yard line but really no positive focused discussion here geared towards new readers on HOW to approach the 16 yard line for league and competition. Sure you can shoot the 16 yard line with any properly functioning shotgun but lets get some input on approaches that will help our members and readers get some quality input and focus. Myself this is what I work with at this time: Equipment: Ceasar G.
Post some of your favorite Trapshooting pix
Some pictures of my oldest son. The first picture is at the National High School Shoot at Mason, MI. The second picture is at the Kentucky High School Championship in Berea. The last is at a 4H shoot at a local club. He is fourteen and just took it up around a year and a half ago and now shoots on the high school team, 4H team, and AIMS. He played football from five years old until thirteen years old, but has decided that he wants to solely concentrate on trap shooting now. He is ate up with it.
Handicap thread all yardages welcome
It seems that there is way to much focus on the 16 yard line...almost like we have as a forum we have been forced to shove it aside due to all the posting and hysteria about the 16 yard line. 1. For the experienced shooters what got you over the threshold of short yardage to mid and the long? Equipment Shotgun set up Mental approach 2.For you new shooters that have not started shooting handicap? 3.How many play the options for handicap when shooting a tournament? Thanks George
Remembering some of our lost trapshooting friends
#1 · Just thinking about some of the great trapshooting friends that we have lost. Gene Hapney(Hap MecTweaks), John Wiegand(KS-Okie), and Howard Simon(Simon Engraving) have been on my mind and I missed seeing them at The Grand every year. All were great individuals and gave much to this sport. Meeting in the mornings with John in front of the Main Building was something I always looked forward to. Howard was always around showing his engravings to people.
