Skip to main content I’ve spent a career at the intersection of travel, technology, and strategy. GAIPAN.ai is where I now explore how generative AI — and the agents it powers — will change not just the way we explore and shop for travel, but the way we work and think. I work with leaders and teams who are serious about navigating AI-driven change and want clarity on how to interpret the signals and plan for what to do next.
The Silent Build of the Agentic Web and the Coming Shift in Travel Distribution
The author argues that AI infrastructure like MCP is rapidly building the foundation for agent-driven travel booking, positioning early adopters for advantage when consumer adoption accelerates. I think the hospitality industry may be turning a corner… This week I attended the Destination AI Forum in Washington, DC. (See proof below.) The rest of the panel was a great group of industry heavyweights: Laura Calin from Oracle,Greg Land from AWS, and Jeff Thoman from Salesforce.
Democratizing AI: Proprietary vs. Open Standards
Lots of brands are rolling out their own proprietary AI tools, but there's a growing case for keeping things more open and collaborative. With standards like Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP) starting to emerge, a growing question is should the industry be working together to make AI more accessible. Is building your own AI the new walled garden - or should hospitality embrace open standards like MCP to democratize innovation?
Loyalty programs will be the tool of choice for AI Agent interfaces like Apple Intelligence
This article is published as part of a viewpoint in the World Panel: How do you envision AI transforming the hospitality industry in the next year, and more importantly: what should we do TODAY to prepare? Information Technology — Viewpoint by Simone Puorto Over the next 12 months I believe we'll see further advances in agentic interfaces from Apple Intelligence, Microsoft Copilot+ PCs, and Google's agents on Gemini.
Will AI Become the New UI in Travel?
In the tourism sector, the influence of GenAI innovations on business operations is undeniable. From my theoretical standpoint, conversational platforms like ChatGPT will likely become the main or even the sole gateways to the internet. I envision a future where such platforms transition from simply processing data to becoming the primary aggregators and distributors of travel-related information. This shift could dramatically change the current structure and interface of the internet.
An early look at new attribute-based shopping for hotels
Attribute-based shopping (ABS) is a hot topic these days for hotels. At a recent panel at HITEC, panelists discussed a survey sponsored by NYU and StayNTouch of more than 1,000 travelers. Among others, the survey addressed two of the questions we hear most often: Will travelers use it? And what will it do to hotel revenues? The survey had some good response data for both, but it did not address the inevitable final questions: Where can I see ABS in action? And who is using it in production today?
Converged CRS And PMS Are Finally Here! Now What? | By George Roukas – Hospitality Net
Opinion Article14 May 2019 By George Roukas, Partner at Hudson Crossing Comments Much has been written recently about the convergence of central reservation systems and property management systems. There are two reasons for all the writing: first, because it represents such an improvement in how hotels process their bookings and manage stays, and second because we've been waiting for over a quarter century for these converged systems to appear.
The direction of hotel technology beyond the convergence of CRS and PMS | By George Roukas – Hospitality Net

There are two reasons for all the writing: first, because it represents such an improvement in how hotels process their bookings and manage stays, and second because we’ve been waiting for 25 years for these converged systems to appear.
Toning your ABS: How to maximise booking revenue - AccomNews - Australia
Two modes of shopping commonly carry the name attribute-based shopping (ABS). In the older form, widely used today, a consumer begins by choosing a hotel and stay dates and receives a list of rates. These rates correspond to combinations of room types and rate plans and each combination has a price. Both the room type and the rate plan for each combination have attributes. For example, a room type might have attributes like the bedding, max guest capacity or whether it has a view or a balcony.
