How is social media changing news?

It has proliferated news media and anyone can be a journalist. There is also an enhanced need for speed.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Cheesy, but you can genuinely make a difference, especially holding those in power to account.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Google sheets, R, Datawrapper and Flourish

Why did you become a journalist?

Like most aspiring journalists, to produce work that has an impact and to make a difference in people's lives.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Sadly we did not have a high school newspaper.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A piece very close to heart was investigating how the pandemic has impacted treatment for people with Multiple Sclerosis.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Never stop learning and you're always standing on the shoulders of giants.

What's your favorite drink?

Orange and lemonade (easy)

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On my oche at home playing darts.
