Letter: Trump vs. Soldiers
There’s a picture of a woman prostrate on a grave in Arlington, traumatized by a death. The person she lost was one of many, many, many, who made it possible for me, and for you, and for Donald Trump, to breathe free. He has said that those American military in graves are losers and suckers. Scorn at soldiers. These are things he has said in private, not in speeches, so it’s what he really was thinking, not what he wants to sell to the public. Memorial Day is past but the tombs are still there.
Letter: CO2 in the Air
The most important greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide (CO2). It is common knowledge that the CO2 will linger in the air for more than 100 years, maybe many more. I am astonished to read that some people argue that because we are stuck with the stuff for the rest of our lives, the rest of our children’s lives, and probably the rest of our grandchildren’s lives, we shouldn’t worry about adding as much more CO2 as we want. I think that’s the wrong direction.
Letter: Trump Blunders
Donald Trump brags about phantom accomplishments. When covid came he floundered with no idea how to lead. One of his greatest failures at our moment of need. He told us it would go away because of a miracle. When he was told how many people were dying he said “it is what it is.” There was not even an attempt to bring it under control, and when doctors advised what to do he refused them with contempt, disparaging medical competence and its practitioners. Inject much bleach Mr. Trump?
Letter: DeSantis and Slavery
Ron DeSantis says that slavery had a benefit for the enslaved by teaching them a skill. Bull. What if they didn’t want to practice a skill like picking cotton in the blazing sun until death for the benefit of slavemasters, not themselves? In a free and fair society they might have practiced a skill that was more suited for them. How about the skill of being a scientist or engineer who might have discovered something or built something that benefitted others?
Letter: Patriotism
I saw a man in the grocery store with a U.S. Army tee shirt in Army color, olive drab. It had an American flag on the back and the words “For this we fight.” D… straight. That’s the way it should be. Donald Trump could have a shirt like that, too. He could put a Russian flag on his. George Yost Vail Disclaimer: As submitted to the Arizona Daily Star. Video Player is loading. Letter: Trump vs. Facts
Donald Trump has a strange connection with facts. On July 4, 2019, he told us that George Washington captured British airfields to help win the Revolutionary War. He didn’t tell us what aircraft the RedCoats flew off those airfields, but I bet it was a funny sight, with those big hats they always wore. How could anyone who passed first grade think that? You don’t suppose his father had to bribe the teacher to pass him on to second grade, do you?
Ukraine war crimes
I saw a picture from Ukraine that tells a vast story. A man lies on the ground. He seems to be wearing clothes of an older man, with a dark overcoat. No uniform, no weapon, nothing threatening. His dead legs are wrapped around a bicycle. An ordinary man wearing ordinary clothes riding an ordinary bicycle on an ordinary road in what most likely must have been his own town, where he belonged. And where the Russians did not belong. What are these people, these Russian soldiers, who would do this?
Trump's 2020 election claims
The difference between what's true and what's false is important to me. If Donald Trump were to say "Pigs can Fly," that wouldn't make it so, even if some people believed it. You have to show it, not just say it. Unless he could show some flying pigs, t'ain't true. Donald Trump is saying that he won the 2020 election. To make it better he began to say he "won in a landslide." Some people believe him, and that seems to be good enough for him.
Letter: Impeachment trial
Letter: Impeachment trial Trump’s impeachment defense lawyers in their fine suits could just as well have chanted Mary had a Little Lamb while performing a Hairy-Legs Kick Line for the Senate. Actually, they didn’t do too much more than that, but it was enough that enough Republican senators could say “Yup. Yup. I’m convinced. The boy is as innocent as the driven snow.” One of those was Ted Cruz.
Letter: Donald Trump and Bleach
Letter: Donald Trump and Bleach President Trump suggested to two of the top physicians on his Coronavirus Task Force that bleach and disinfectants should be studied as maybe great treatments against the disease in people because they are so good at clearing it off surfaces. Calls to poison control centers spiked after he said that. He is proud of his ability to think outside the box and come up with ideas no one has thought of before, just like a genius.

Juniors and sophomores to take the PSAT next week By Andromeda Erikson On Wednesday, Laramie High School students in the tenth and eleventh grade who registered for the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) will be taking the test. Each year in the fall, this test is offered to LHS students. Bryon Lee, one of the counselors who helps organize the PSAT, recommends the test for students who are “serious about going to college.” “It’s a test that’s offered for both sophomores and juniors.
