George Cacioppo’s Biography
George Cacioppo has driven software engineering and technological innovation since 1978. Originally from Suffolk County, New York, Cacioppo currently lives on the West Coast. His family lives in San Diego. Cacioppo has driven innovation, constant progress, and success throughout his career. He excels at cloud-based, high-capacity consumer digital commerce, media, and gaming.
Cacioppo started his career in 1978 with Hazeltine Industrial Products Division in Greenlawn, NY. He created custom code for many software programs. Cacioppo joined Digital Equipment Corporation (USA) in 1982 as an Engineering Manager after four years as a Software Engineer. He used his prior experience to oversee font deliveries for X-Windows-based workstations. In addition, he designed methods and processes to certify and release video terminals and software-containing printing equipment.
He was chosen as Adobe's Vice President of Software Development for PostScript due to his competence with complicated PostScript laser printers. Cacioppo helped PostScript build strategy, products, and accounts from 1992 until 2004. PostScript was the first device-independent Page Description Language (PDL) and programming language developed in 1984. During his decade with Adobe, Cacioppo helped make PostScript a best-in-class RIP for commercial and office printing. In addition, he handled engineering for 40 worldwide OEM clients that produced $200 million.
Cacioppo managed specific adjustments to fulfill client expectations and improve time-to-market. Cacioppo led 160 engineers as head of an engineering group.
He became PalmSource Holding Co's Vice President of Engineering in March 2005. Cacioppo instantly affected PalmSource Holding in the smartphone and mobile technology market. Cacioppo created a robust and dynamic engineering and product management team to support mobile product development. In addition, he implemented licensed cell phones, smartphones, and mobile gadgets.
Intuit's TurboTax simplifies tax filing and planning for individuals and companies. Vice President of Software Engineering, he joined TurboTax in March 2008. He oversaw 250 product engineers and personnel as a leader. In addition, his team developed TurboTax Online and desktop products and solutions. Through his leadership, organizational strategy, and vision, Cacioppo achieved $1.6B in sales and improved product and solution scalability.
Cacioppo used his Palm experience to develop cutting-edge iPhone and tablet solutions, earning 4.5-star evaluations and digital native consumers. In addition, his emphasis on strategy, continuous improvement, and process refinement led to many process reengineering initiatives that freed up resources for innovation and reinvestment. His efforts won him 2010's Intuit CEO Leadership Award.
When Cacioppo joined PlayStation Network in 2013, it was struggling. As SVP of Engineering, he stabilized the network. He created long- and short-term strategic strategies while employing top engineering personnel.
He decreased maintenance downtime and improved problem resolution, response, and availability KPIs. He shifted development to the cloud and increased employee acceptance of the newest services and technology. He implemented world-class, state-of-the-art solutions to improve PlayStation Network performance and operations. When the COVID-19 pandemic transformed the globe, Cacioppo's forward-thinking procedures positioned the PlayStation Network to satisfy stay-at-home directives. Cacioppo won the 2021 Sony Group Technology Award for his leadership and vision.
