George Turner’s Biography

I am an investigative journalist based in London.

My main interest is the economy and the relationship between politics, culture and economics.

The worlds of business and economics are often shrouded in complexity which creates the impression that the subject is inaccessible. That in itself is damaging. We all participate in the economy; it is fundamental to our society and how we relate to each other. It is vital that the economy and the worlds of finance and business are understood by as many people as possible. This should not be an impossible task.

Behind every economic transaction there is a human relationship. Decisions made in the marketplace, and the reasoning behind them, are as political, emotional and fallible as any other decisions taken by humans and are therefore capable of being understood by them.

My goal is to try to understand how the economy really works, why important economic decisions are taken and by whom.
