Georgia Pastor, Fired By State Over Sermons, Wins Settlement | The Resurgent
A former Georgia health official who was fired by the Georgia Department of Public Health after a review of his sermons, has won a $225,000 settlement from the state. Dr. Eric Walsh was hired as a manager by DPH in 2014. Walsh is also a Seventh-Day Adventist minister, who serves a congregation outside of his daily job responsibilities. Human resource officials at the state agency, upon finding some of his sermons on Youtube, asked Walsh to turn over all his sermons.
One Small Coffee Company Has Set A Goal To Hire 10,000 Veterans | The Resurgent
Starbucks made waves when CEO Howard Schulz made a commitment to hire 10,000 refugees. The decision generated plenty of negative publicity for the chain, so much so that Schulz has subsequently publicized the company’s veterans’ hiring program – one that has employed 8,800 since 2013. Now, a small Utah-based coffee company is following in Starbucks’ footsteps, making a commitment to offer employment opportunities to 10,000 veterans over the next six years.
NEW: Anti-DeVos Protesters Block New Education Secretary From Entering DC School | The Resurgent
Leftist protest culture continues to run amok. Today, newly confirmed Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos visited a local, Washington, DC public school, and was greeted by a Washington Teacher’s Union protest. Angry union members blocked her entrance into the school, shouting “Shame!” and forced her back into her SUV. It put DeVos in a terrible situation. As a cabinet official, she has armed security. The situation could have been very ugly and dangerous if she insisted on pushing through the mob.

Connecticut to Increase Cost of Exercising Constitutional Right | The Resurgent
Governor Malloy of Connecticut is proposing an increase in the state’s fees charged to citizens wishing to buy or carry handguns. If this article were about any other Constitutionally-protected activity, people would think this proposal is ludicrous. After all, who in their right mind would propose fees or restrictions for bloggers or others exercising their First Amendment Rights.
The White House Will Rewrite the Immigration Executive Order | The Resurgent
I’ve been hearing this for several days and talking about it on the radio. NBC News is now hearing it as well. The White House is going to rewrite the executive order on immigration. This actually is a smart thing to do. It will cut short the existing litigation because the old executive order will be canceled. The new executive order will go through the formal review process at the agency level, amount to the same sort of pause in immigration, but it will be premised on more statutory foundations.
Trump SHOULD Tweet About The Judge Stopping The Rise Of The Oceans | The Resurgent
Donald Trump’s attacks on judges have generated blowback, some of it richly disserved, such as his questioning the impartiality of a particular judge due to the judge’s Mexican heritage. Even Trump’s newly minted Supreme Court nominee seems to be dismayed by some of the attacks, though that’s not entirely clear. But federal judges should not be spared exposure by Trump tweets simply because they are judges.
