Opinion - AFL 2024 Grand Final - Liked, Learnt, Hated
Seems kind of silly doing a weekend wrap for one game, so it’ll be back next year. Instead I’ll just leave this here for all you jubilant Lions supporters… Congrats Brisbane. Far too good for the Swans today. Well played and a well deserved flag! Don’t forget to post your Liked, Learnt, Hated below… along with any other thoughts you had about the 2024 Grand Final!
Preview - AFL 2024 First Qualifying Final - Swans v GWS Sat Sept 7th 3:20pm EST (SCG)
#10 Why is this the Saturday afternoon game?.Surely the team that finishes 1st would want the longest rest going into the second week of finals. Also probably the best game so put it on in a timeslot which will get the most eyeballs.Melburnians will watch AFL no matter what time it's on but in a growing market in Sydney a night game is a no brainer.25 degrees and sunny in Sydney who is watching TV?

Game Day - GWS v Freo - AFL Rd 23, 2024 - Sat August 17th 1:45pm / 11:45am - (ENGIE Stadium)
Depends which Giants team turns up. Hopefully not the one we saw in the first quarter against Brisbane. As long as the Giants side that plays in the other 3 quarters turns up, we’ll be fine!…but seriously though, we need to play 4 quarters with the finals coming up soon.
Which teams are most reliant on their top players?
Having said that, Richmond are one of the sides that currently rely on their top end talent. They are alongside Sydney, West Coast, Brisbane, Carlton and Hawthorn as the sides I see most reliant on their top players. Sides on the other end of the spectrum are Melbourne, Collingwood, GWS and Geelong. They don’t really get affected too much when they have a couple of good players missing with their depth.
Autopsy - AFL 2024 Round 18 - Tigers v GWS Sun July 14th 3:20pm AEST (MCG)
I feel like we haven’t won many on the G in recent times. Any ‘expected wins’ for us have meant really disappointing performances from us. I hope we turn up to compete flat out for four quarters. Yes, our overall MCG record is dismal- just 7 wins from 29 games. We have also won just 1 of our last 6 matches at the MCG, although that included last year’s Finals win against St Kilda, and the dramatic 1 point PF loss to Collingwood.
Who is the greatest #8 to ever play for your club
#16 The first name that came to mind was Robert Scott, but I'm sure there's been better. Can only think of Josh Hunt and Jake Kolodjashnij. Is there a website that has a list numbers and players that wore them? www.afltables.com Select your club, select "All Time Player List", click on "#" to list players by jumper number. Paid it forward Mr Meow
News - Pies Player-Toucher banned for rest of 2024.
COLLINGWOOD MEMBER SUSPENDED The AFL has banned a Collingwood member for the rest of the year, after he leaned over the fence and grabbed West Coast Eagles player Harvey Johnston on Sunday afternoon at Marvel Stadium. The incident occurred during the fourth quarter when the patron stood up in his seat, leant over the fence and proceeded to grab and then pat Johnston on the head and the took the football from him.
