Giovanni Viafora’s Biography

Italian journalist and Senior Editor, National News (Head of Desk) at Corriere della Sera.

He has reported extensively on institutions, uncovering underreported dynamics within centers of power, and is equally drawn to intimate, long-form interviews that reveal the person behind the public figure. His work is guided by a strong sense of truth and responsibility.

He holds a degree in Law from the University of Padua and has worked across print and digital journalism, with a particular focus on the evolving challenges of contemporary reporting.

His work has been recognized with several journalism awards, including the “Claudia Basso” Award, the national investigative journalism award “Gruppo dello Zuccherificio”, and the “Giorgia Iazzetta” Award. His investigations have been cited by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN).

He is a member of the jury of the Premio Valori d’Impresa (Confindustria Veneto Est), regularly takes part in high-level public conversations with leading figures from culture, politics and journalism, and has led seminars and training sessions on journalism, media ethics and reporting.

He is co-author, with Ferruccio Pinotti, of La Lobby di Dio (Chiarelettere, 2010).
