Glenn Allyn’s Biography

Glenn Allyn is a lifelong New Yorker who has built a dynamic career across aviation, law, and real estate. His academic foundation began at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Management. He later completed a Juris Doctor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, preparing him to enter and navigate multiple professional fields with a firm grounding in business and legal frameworks.

He began his early professional life as a sales manager at a Nyack, New York, car dealership. This initial experience gave him practical knowledge of business operations and customer relationships. After graduating from law school, he entered the legal profession, working with several reputable firms in New York City and White Plains. He eventually became a partner in two of them. His legal focus was primarily on aviation law and ski area liability, and he was involved in cases surrounding significant airline disasters, including complex reinsurance disputes. This legal exposure gave him a deep understanding of risk, compliance, and regulation—skills that would later enhance his work in aviation operations.

Alongside Glenn’s legal practice, he maintained a strong presence in the ski industry. As a coach for youth ski racers aged 12 to 15, he taught technical racing techniques and mountain safety. As a J3/J4 coach, he helped athletes build their skills and prepare for competition in slalom and giant slalom disciplines. Additionally, he served as a staff trainer at a ski resort, mentoring instructors on effectively teaching skiing to children. His hands-on involvement in skiing reflected his passion for teaching, discipline, and team development.

His career spans over 15 years in real estate, where he worked as a builder, developer, and property manager. He oversaw residential and commercial projects, managed leasing and maintenance, and worked closely with tenants. His responsibilities included coordinating construction, handling financial planning, and ensuring operational efficiency. This experience helped him develop long-term planning, asset management, and project leadership skills.

Glenn B Allyn's aviation career began with Northeast Jet in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he served as a Learjet captain. He later advanced to Director of Operations at Tab Aviation, managing pilot coordination, flight planning, and regulatory compliance across New York and New Hampshire locations. These roles allowed him to build substantial flight hours while gaining administrative and operational leadership experience. He then joined Best Jets, Inc. as a broker and sales associate, overseeing the purchasing and selling a wide range of aircraft, including jets, turboprops, seaplanes, and helicopters. His role involved valuations, inspections, contract negotiation, and transaction completion. His ability to combine legal and aviation expertise made him a trusted resource for clients navigating aircraft acquisitions.

Glenn later served as Chief Pilot for M’Air Aviation, leading pilot scheduling, safety oversight, risk management, and customer service operations. This role gave him deeper exposure to the logistical demands of charter aviation and further refined his leadership in the field. Building on that experience, he founded Flying Zebra, a private charter company based at Westchester County Airport in New York. For over seven years, Flying Zebra has provided regional and international flights throughout the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. The company’s fleet of Pilatus PC-12 aircraft supports access to destinations not typically served by commercial carriers.

As Chief Pilot and operator, Glenn oversees all aspects of the business, including aircraft maintenance, pilot training, charter coordination, flight tracking, and FAA compliance. He manages insurance, leasing, and warranty programs and provides strategic guidance on tax planning and ownership structures related to private aircraft. He holds FAA Part 135 certification and has logged over 30,000 hours of flight time, with more than 22,000 hours as a lead pilot. His experience includes flying jets, turboprops, and helicopters, with over 1,600 hours in rotary-wing aircraft. He has authored numerous aviation documents, including SMS protocols, Canadian AOC applications, emergency response plans, drug and alcohol manuals, and HZMAT compliance materials.

Outside work, Glenn leads an active lifestyle that includes cycling, running, golfing, scuba diving, biathlon, kiteboarding, waterskiing, and motorcycling. He is also an avid shooting sports participant with experience in trap, skeet, and sporting clays. A passionate skier, he has competed in amateur and professional events across multiple disciplines, including moguls, aerials, and alpine racing.

Glenn Allyn continues to lead Flying Zebra with focus and discipline, combining decades of experience in aviation, law, and real estate to deliver reliable, safe, and personalized air charter services for a wide range of clients.
