Abstract A new electrochemical sensor in a flow injection system is developed for the determination of ranitidine in pharmaceutical formulations. The method is based on the deamination reaction of ranitidine in an acidic environment in the presence of nitrite ions producing the electroactive species 2-methylfuran and releasing nitrosamine [1].
