His experience exposed critical gaps in the care and immediate support available to injured Green Berets, prompting him to create an organization that could bridge those gaps. From its inception in 2009, the Foundation’s mission has been grounded in compassion, duty, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by Special Forces Soldiers and their families.

Health & Wellness

The Health & Wellness pillar forms the backbone of the Foundation’s support initiatives, focusing on the physical, mental, and emotional strength of Green Berets and their families. Recognizing that health extends far beyond medical treatment, the GBF supplements existing military and veteran healthcare with specialized programs that enhance total well-being.

These services include access to evidence-based therapies such as Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) for post-traumatic stress, infrared light therapy, and substance-use treatment. Recovery technologies, such as Normatec and Hyperice systems, further enhance circulation, reduce inflammation, and accelerate physical healing. By integrating such innovative methods, the Foundation ensures that Green Berets receive individualized, high-quality care that nurtures their long-term resilience.

Within this pillar, Task Force Tatanka plays a central role in strengthening mental wellness and emotional endurance. The Foundation’s Casualty Support program provides immediate and compassionate financial assistance to Special Forces Soldiers who are wounded or injured during combat or training operations. This aid covers urgent expenses such as travel, lodging, and caregiver accommodations, allowing families to remain by their loved ones’ sides without financial strain. Coordinating closely with the U.S. Special Operations Command Care Coalition, the Foundation ensures the timely and efficient delivery of support when it is needed most.

Gold Star & Surviving Families

The Green Beret Foundation deeply honors the families of fallen Green Berets through its ongoing commitment to Gold Star and surviving families. The Foundation provides meaningful assistance and advocacy to help survivors navigate the emotional and financial challenges that accompany loss. This enduring relationship ensures that families of the fallen are not forgotten and continue to receive care, community, and recognition long after their loved one’s service has ended.

Transition Support

Transitioning from active duty to civilian life is often one of the most significant challenges a Green Beret faces. The Foundation’s Next Ridgeline program directly addresses this pivotal period by providing tailored guidance and resources to support post-military success. Through workshops, one-on-one coaching, scholarships, and pre-transition briefings, the program equips Soldiers with the knowledge and confidence to excel in new careers and civilian roles.

In addition, the Green Beret Foundation’s Veteran Services Officers (VSOs) assist with navigating the complexities of VA claims and benefits. Since achieving VA accreditation, the VSO team has managed over 600 claims, resulting in approximately $2.3 million in monthly payments to Green Berets and their families.
