Chilly morning, watching coastal storm
QUIET STRETCH It's a cold morning with temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 30s for most, we are looking at some frost mainly away from the coast. Monday brings a bright start to the new week, with plenty of sunshine and highs in the upper 50s. The rest of the week looks fairly quiet inland, with morning temperatures in the 40s and afternoon highs in the 50s and 60s. COASTAL STORM We're keeping a close eye on a coastal storm tracking up the Mid-Atlantic.
Frosty start, turning pleasant
WEEKEND CHILL It's the coldest morning of the season thus far with freezing conditions away from the immediate coast and city environments. Clear skies, plus much lighter winds overnight are are to blame and this afternoon will feature more of the same. Today will feature plenty of sunshine with afternoon highs in the mid 50s and low humidity.
Cold and blustery start to weekend
FRIDAY RAIN A cold front arrived late Friday bringing heavy rain, gusty wind and lightning. The worst of it is over, but there will still be some showers that linger overnight, mainly across southeastern Massachusetts. WEEKEND IN VIEW Saturday will feel very different! Lingering rain across southeastern Massachusetts will stick around through mid-morning, this will be a lower impact though. Wind gusts up to 40 mph throughout the day will be possible, making it feel even colder.
Weather alert
RAIN ON THE WAY There are two Weather Alert days coming up, one on Friday and one on Saturday. We have a Weather Alert Friday with widespread rain and developing winds. As of now, expect a soggy day with about 0.5-0.75″ rainfall. Rainfall will be steadiest through midday, with a lull likely in the afternoon and early evening. Gusty winds will develop during the day and temperatures will drop drastically after a cold front clears the region later Friday night.
Rain, wind and colder temperatures

Warm today, more rain chances ahead
TEMPERATURE SWINGS We start off Wednesday with some patchy fog before 10AM. Temperatures will warm into the middle 70s with increasing clouds and a passing shower for the mid-afternoon. It'll also be a little breezy with gusts up to 20-30 mph. A front will pass through and cool things down heading into Thursday, highs will be in the 60s under mostly sunny skies. WEATHER ALERT FOR THE WEEKEND We have a Weather Alert Friday with widespread rain and developing winds.
Quick clearing Monday
MONDAY IMPROVEMENTS Clouds, fog, and murky weather will last through about 8 or 9 AM. Skies will clear out quickly after that! Plan on mostly sunny skies and highs around 70 degrees this afternoon. TUESDAY DROP Tuesday will be cloudy and dreary most of the day thanks to a front draped over New England. The steadiest rain will fall in northern MA and NH with occasional drizzle and some passing showers in Boston.
Cold and blustery start to the weekend
WEEKEND CHILL Skies will gradually clear today from west to east as our recent system slowly slides offshore. Afternoon highs will struggle to reach 50 degrees today. With the gusty winds up to 35 MPH, it will feel more like the 30s and 40s at times. Layers will be your friend! As the wind relaxes Saturday evening, temperatures will plunge once more. Overnight lows will fall into the low 30s with some spots potentially below freezing away from the coast.
Passing shower, then sunny
WARMING UP! Today we'll start out with a chance of some showers before 1 PM, so there will be some clouds around. It could get a little breezy too with some isolated gusts up to 20+ mph. Skies should clear after the last of the showers exit, making way for a decent bit of sunshine by the mid to late afternoon hours. High temperatures will make it to the lower 70s. Friday through the weekend looks bright and seasonable, with plenty of sunshine at times and highs generally in the 60s.
Chilly start, seasonable afternoon
COOL AND FROSTY It's a cold and frosty start this morning, with temperatures in the 30s for some spots, the coldest start of the season so far for some of us. A Frost Advisory continues through 9AM away from the coast. Sunshine will take over today, sending temperatures into the mid 60s, right around where we should be for this time of year. WARMING UP! It won't be nearly as cold tonight, with temperatures settling into the 50s. Thursday will be warmer, with highs reaching the 70s.
Bright, cool and breezy
BRIEF BLAST OF COOLER TEMPS After a cool start in the 40s, plan on below average highs in the upper 50s Tuesday under sunny skies. We have a Frost Advisory away from the coastline tonight and Wednesday morning. Widespread mid and upper 30s are expected, which will be the first frost of the season in parts of Massachusetts along and west of 128.
Pleasant stretch
BRIEF BLAST OF COOLER TEMPS After some brief early cloudy, today will end up bright and breezy. Winds will increase this afternoon as a cold front comes through. Expect N/NW gusts 20-35 mph. Northern New England will tap into some rain today, but the local forecast in southern New England should stay dry with just some passing clouds on the front. It will be cool and breezy overnight with lows in the highs 30s and lower 40s - just a tad too mild for local frost.
Summer feel
WARMING UP Today will warm up rapidly with highs maxing out in the low to mid 80s. We will start out with sunshine, then clouds will build through the afternoon ahead of a cold front. That will bring some scattered showers after 4 PM. We aren't looking at much rain, likely less than 0.25″ even with a brief downpour possible. WEEKEND PREVIEW Highs will drop back into the seasonable 60s this weekend. Saturday will be sunny.
Warm start to October
WARMING UP Today will run nearly 10 degrees above average with highs well into the 70s in the forecast. We'll see a mix of sun and clouds, at times leaning more cloudy than sunny, yet peeks of bright skies are still to be expected. A weak disturbance will pass through and could squeeze out a few spot showers in southern New England. Humidity will be on the rise too, giving us a summer-like feel.
Warming up
STUBBORN CLOUDS Skies Wednesday will average mostly cloudy, though you should see more breaks of blue sky than yesterday. Plan on highs in the mid to upper 60s at the coast and lower 70s inland. Winds will remain light and the forecast will stay dry. Overall, it will be a decent day! WARMING UP Thursday will run nearly 10 degrees above average with high 70s in the forecast. We'll see a mix of sun and clouds, at times leaning more cloudy than sunny.
Cloudy, but drying out
STILL CLOUDY The four day nor'easter continues moving away from us and will leave us with more dry weather today. Count on overcast skies in most communities with just a few breaks in the clouds possible. Highs will land in the 60s. WARMING UP Clouds will hang tight overnight with the chance for a spritz along the coastline and areas of fog. We'll see a few more breaks in the clouds Wednesday. It won't stay fully sunny, but it's an improvement.
Fall feel returns
GORGEOUS START TO THE WEEKEND It’s shaping up to be a fantastic afternoon with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 60s, which is much closer to where we should be this time of year. Sunday will also reach the mid 60s, but we’ll have more clouds around heading for the second half of the day. We’ll be watching a storm system passing offshore late Sunday.
Weather alert for weekend rain, wind and coastal impacts
WINDS RAMPING UP Partly cloudy skies on the way as we head into the second half of this week! Highs will stay in the middle to lower 60s tomorrow with gusts anywhere from 25-35 mph, locally stronger on the Cape and Islands. Waves 7-11 feet are expected off the MA coastline too. Friday into Saturday we have a Coastal Flood Watch in effect. COASTAL STORM The Weather Alert continues Friday through Monday with peak storm impacts expected over the weekend.
Weather Alert: Weekend rain, wind, and coastal impacts
FINAL QUIET DAY By “quiet” I mean dry, not calm! After a cool start in the 40s and 50s, highs will head to the lower 60s with partial sun and another active breeze. Dress like you have the past several days. Gusts will range from 25-35 mph, locally stronger on the Cape and Islands. Waves 6-13 feet are expected off the MA coastline too.
Weather alert for weekend rain, wind and coastal impacts
BLUSTERY CONDITIONS AHEAD Wednesday and Thursday will be partly sunny and blustery. After a chilly start in the 40s and 50s, highs in the lower 60s will remain 5-10 degrees below average. Expect gusts 25-35 mph, strongest at the coast, Cape, and Islands. Waves 7-11 feet are expected off the MA coastline too. COASTAL STORM The Weather Alert continues Friday through Monday with peak storm impacts expected over the weekend. Rain will likely develop Friday with an iffy start time in Boston.
Staying cool and breezy, watching weekend storm
FALL IS HERE! Fall officially starts today at 8:05 pm, and temperatures certainly feel like it this week! Get set for morning 50s and afternoon highs in the lower 60s, that's about 10 degrees below average. We'll also have northeast winds 10-20 mph with gusts 20-30 mph, strongest along the coast, Cape, and Islands. WINDY CONDITIONS AHEAD Our cool, breezy, and dry pattern will last through Thursday. Winds and waves will gradually strengthen. Seas 7-11 feet are possible off the MA coastline Wednesday.
Cool and breezy week ahead
DRYING EARLY Expect highs in the middle 60s in the greater Boston area. Northeast winds 10-20 mph will gust to 30 mph, strongest on the Cape and Islands. Most days this week will be breezy, cool, and partly cloudy. FALL IS HERE! A typical high in Boston is about 70 degrees at this point in September. Highs will run 5-10 degrees below average with a persistent northeast wind.
Sunshine Saturday, soggy Sunday
WEEKEND IN VIEW Saturday is the pick of the weekend with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 60s. It will be a little cooler along the coast with an onshore wind. Even with the cooler temperatures and the unofficial end of summer, you should still be aware of the high rip current risk at many beaches Saturday. Sunday starts off dry, but clouds increase and rain arrives after midday. Showers become more widespread through the afternoon and continue into Sunday night.
Rain tonight, more Sunday
MILD WITH SHOWERS DEVELOPING We're starting to see rain this afternoon and evening across southern New England. I think Boston will start to see light drops after dinnertime. That rain will pass over eastern MA in the evening and night with an average of 0.1-0.25″ and locally higher totals up to 0.5″ (most likely in parts of NH and ME). Although a shower may linger early Friday morning over the Cape, skies will quickly brighten up across the region.
Rain returns to Massachusetts: Here's when showers arrive and how wet Sunday could get
MILD WITH SHOWERS DEVELOPING Following the muggy start in the 60s, skies remain mostly cloudy much of the day as highs head into the upper 70s for many. Scattered showers will develop this afternoon, primarily north and west of Boston initially. That rain will pass over MA in the evening and night with an average of 0.1-0.25″ and locally higher totals up to 0.5″ (most likely in parts of NH and ME).
Warming up
LATE WEEK WARMTH Above average highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s are in the forecast Wednesday through Friday. A mix of sun and clouds today will make way to mainly cloudy and humid conditions tomorrow. Scattered showers will develop Thursday afternoon, primarily north and west of Boston initially. That rain will pass over MA in the evening and night with an average of 0.1-0.25″ and locally higher totals up to 0.5″ (most likely in parts of NH and ME).
Gusty rain tonight
CLOUDS & HUMIDITY RETURN It's mostly cloudy today with more humidity. Highs will reach the upper 70s and most MA towns will stay dry through the early evening. A spot shower may pass through this evening, but most of the late afternoon and evening rain will be focused over VT and NH. That same area of showers approach late tonight and early Thursday. The rain will be brief in Boston and I'm expecting dry weather again by mid morning tomorrow.
Beautiful day
NICE WEATHER CONTINUES Tuesday will feature plenty of sunshine, it will be warm with highs climbing to near 80°, but humidity still remains low. The warmth continues to build Wednesday with highs reaching the low 80s. Humidity starts to creep up as well, although it won't be overly muggy just yet. We'll start with some sunshine before clouds increase through the day. THURSDAY RAIN Thursday looks like the warmest and most humid day of the stretch. Highs reach the mid 80s with a noticeably muggy feel.
A+ Labor Day weather
A+ LABOR DAY WEATHER Soak up the sun today! It will be bright and pleasant with low humidity. The morning will start a little on the cool side with sunrise 40s and 50s, but highs will land in the upper 70s across southern New England. The only “bump” in the forecast is an elevated rip current risk for much of the coastline, so please be sure to use extra caution if heading to the beaches. Waves 2-4 feet are expected. BACK TO WORK & SCHOOL Tuesday will stay comfortable as highs flirt with 80 degrees.
Weather alert
FOGGY COMMUTE We are waking up to dense fog this morning, but it will not last and conditions will improve as the day rolls on. The day will bring a mix of sun and clouds with another warm afternoon. Highs will climb into the mid 80s, and it will still be quite muggy. LONG WEEKEND The weekend will feel a little cooler and eventually more comfortable. Saturday will feature more clouds with highs only reaching the low 70s.
Rain pulls away
CLEARING SKIES The bulk of the rain will move offshore around mid-to-late morning, allowing conditions to gradually improve. That said, the atmosphere will remain somewhat unsettled through the afternoon, so a few isolated showers or even a spot thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. By the end of tomorrow most regions will end up with less than a half an inch of rain. Despite the clouds, temperatures will climb into the upper 70s Thursday afternoon.
Dry today; wet tomorrow
MORE RAIN Clouds will continue to thicken this evening ahead of our next storm system. While most of us stay dry through the evening hours, rain will arrive overnight, with the steadiest and heaviest showers moving through before sunrise Thursday. The bulk of the rain will move offshore around mid-morning, allowing conditions to gradually improve.
Rain starts early tomorrow
CLOUDS + RAIN COMING Here comes the rain! Clouds build overnight with lows sinking into the middle 60s. Winds will be out of the south anywhere from 5-10 mph. Showers start in very widespread fashion tomorrow, with some pockets of rain being heavy at times. The commute will be dicey as well for some which is part of the reason why we have an alert day in place on Tuesday. Look for the rain to taper off a little bit more by the late afternoon and early evening.
Gusty rain tonight
CLOUDS & HUMIDITY RETURN Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with slowly increasing humidity. Highs will reach the upper 70s and most MA towns will stay dry. A spot shower may pass through early this evening, but most of the late afternoon and evening rain will be focused over VT and NH. That same area of showers will dip into the late tonight and early Thursday. The rain will be brief in Boston and I’m expecting dry weather again by mid morning tomorrow.
Unsettled week ahead
WET PATTERN Monday looks quieter with more sunshine and seasonable temperatures in the upper 70s. Our next storm arrives Tuesday as a frontal system approaches New England. That front is expected to stall nearby, keeping the chance for showers around from Tuesday through Thursday. Not every hour will be wet, but there will be several opportunities for rain, along with the chance for an isolated thunderstorm.
Unsettled week ahead
MONDAY PICK Enjoy Monday’s sun because the rest of the week looks gloomy. Highs today will peak in the upper 70s to lower 80s. SOGGY STRETCH On and off showers will drive the forecast Tuesday through Thursday. We’re expecting waves of steadier, heavier rain as a front stalls over the area. The best chance for those steadier intervals of rain will occur Tuesday and Thursday.
Comfortable weekend ahead
WEEKEND IN VIEW Today brings plenty of sunshine with highs in the mid to upper 70s. It will feel comfortable with lower humidity, making for a great day to get outside and enjoy the final weekend of August. Sunday turns a little warmer with highs climbing into the mid 80s, but the humidity remains in check. A spot shower is possible Sunday night as another disturbance moves through, but it won't have much impact on the overall weekend.
Humidity on the rise, shower chances increase
COMFY EVENING AHEAD Humidity will increase a little bit overnight but we're forecasting dry conditions with overnight lows in the lower 60s. Winds will be out of the southeast to start becoming light after 1 AM. Clouds will increase ahead of rain chances much later on Thursday night. NEXT RAIN We'll start off tomorrow morning once again with bright skies, but clouds will increase with a chance of showers late.
Late summer weather
GENERALLY DRY & BRIGHT Tuesday will be a gem with mostly sunny skies, wake up 50s, and highs around 80 degrees. Humidity will stay relative low for this time of year. Scattered clouds will mix in this afternoon with a very slight chance for an isolated pop up, probably somewhere north and west of Boston. Comfortable weather will last tonight with lows back in the upper 50s.
Drier week ahead, lots of sun
FOG EARLY We kick off Monday with some fog concerns, some areas will have dense fog too so make sure to use fog lights when necessary. Luckily the fog burns off by the mid morning hours making way for lots of sunshine. The best part will be the lower humidity with temps in the 80's. NEW WORK WEEK That pleasant pattern sticks around through the end of the middle of the week, with mostly sunny skies and highs remaining in the 80s. The humidity will return by Thursday.
Few stronger storms possible today
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS Today will be warmer and more humid, with temperatures climbing close to 80 degrees for the afternoon as sun peeks through the clouds. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will look to develop through late morning, yet not everyone is expected to get wet. We are watching an elevated risk for strong to severe storms heading for later today, primarily for interior areas.
Dreary start to weekend
WEEKEND IN VIEW Clouds and drizzle/mist linger overnight with a spot shower possible and temperatures in the 60s. Saturday will be cloudy and cooler, with highs only in the low 70s. Showers or drizzle are possible at times throughout the day, but there will also be some dry breaks. Rain will be light, so this is not a washout. While it's not an ideal beach day, you should still be aware of the higher risk for dangerous rip currents along the coast - mainly the South Shore and outer Cape.
A spot shower is possible Sunday night as another disturbance moves through, but it won’t have much impact on the overall weekend.
Summer temperatures return
WEDNESDAY 80s Patchy fog will burn off by 8 AM. The day will end up bright and toasty with highs in the mid 80s. Dew points in the mid 60s will lean into a humid feel, but not the stickiest weather you've felt this summer. SOME RAIN THURSDAY Clouds will increase Thursday after a party sunny and dry morning. An approaching front will stir up some scattered showers late in the day, mostly during PM commute and evening.
Mild and muggy
CLOUDS LINGER After a cloudy and foggy start to the day, clouds will linger through midday before a few breaks of sunshine develop this afternoon. Highs will reach the low 80s inland, while temperatures stay in the 70s along the coast. It will be quite humid today, and while an isolated shower is possible this afternoon, rain will be a lower impact and most of us stay dry. HEATING UP WITH RAIN Wednesday will bring another early round of fog, followed by more afternoon sunshine.
Monday clouds and showers
A DREARY START TO THE WEEK Clouds will stick around this afternoon, keeping temperatures a bit cooler with highs in the low 70s. It will still feel humid, and a spot shower is possible at any point today. NEXT FEW DAYS We'll trend mostly dry tonight with plenty of clouds and fog. Temperatures will settle back into the 60s. Tuesday brings a mix of clouds and some sunshine with highs in the low 80s, which is right where we should be this time of year.
Pleasant weekend!
WEEKEND IN VIEW If you're heading to the beach today, be aware of a moderate risk for dangerous rip currents along some beaches. Even with sunny, pleasant weather, the surf and currents can be hazardous, so use extra caution around the water and swim near a lifeguard. Sunday will be another nice day, although it will turn a little more humid. Clouds will increase during the afternoon as our next storm system approaches. Rain arrives Sunday night and continues into early Monday morning.
Lower humidity & few showers
EYE TO THE SKY! We have two cool things happening in the next 24 hours: a partial solar eclipse and one of the best meteor showers of the year! The eclipse won't be spectacular locally with only 16% of the sun being covered by the moon. You probably won't notice anything unless you look up with eclipse glasses during max coverage at 1:55 PM. The Perseid Meteor Shower is one of the best of the year with dozens of shooting stars per hour.
Summer steam continues
HOT START Monday will kick off the week on a hot note. High temperatures max out in the upper 80s and it will be humid. Expect filtered sun due to wildfire smoke. Clouds will increase late in the day with some hit-or-miss showers and storms after dinnertime (roughly 8 PM - midnight). Coverage may be sparse with many towns and cities dodging the drops and staying dry. Tuesday will be a transition day for us. It will start sticky and then humidity will drop.
