CamelBack Narrow Gauge backpack
Chainlink FreeCycle, FREE, FREE, FREE. Well worn, serviceable CamelBack with newer water bag. Purchased in Durango CO in August 1985. I was told this model was exclusive to shops in that town. Turin Cycles
Seeing that reminder about Turin Cycles on this blog site reminded me of a steel road frame I bought from those folks back in the late 70's. I lived in Fort Wayne at the time and was in town on business so I stopped by their shop and liked the way the work done on the frame looked (I sold it in the mid-80's when I was a bit strapped for cash and always kinda regretted that).

Sure, and if they had named it the Chris, Bob, Steve, or Tim, Trek would have had a much better argument. They didn't. They named a fat tire bike that looks kinda goofy after a comedian that was a fat guy known to act and look goofy. It's a connection people were intended to make. Tribute? Maybe, but Trek has deep enough pockets that they can compensate people for the marketing campaigns and branding they develop (which they now have, so....).

Time magazine dated 23 April 2018. Spotted in the headlined article, London’s Murder Rate Soars as Police Struggle to Fight Spike in Violent Crime, under the sub-heading, Shifting the Blame: Central London was brought to a standstill on April 7 as thousands of young Brits gathered to protest the epidemic of violence.
Strange Bicycle Movies
Has anyone seen this obscure British bicycling flick from 1949 ? Synopsis: When a local cycle club, invites a couple of new members to join them, little does the club realize, that they will soon be involved in a couple of illegal bookmakers putting the squeeze on the son of one of the Members, a stolen bike, a deserting soldier on the run from the police, and a love triangle, that's bound to lead to trouble. During the late 40's and the early 50's, there seem to be hundreds of these clubs.
