NeoCon 2024: A Mid-Year Surge of Inspirational Hope
Giving Voice To Those Who Create Workplace Design & Furnishings by | This past June, more than 50,000 people descended upon Chicago to attend NeoCon. Rather than simply more networking, or the chance to pick up the latest and greatest IT tote bag, participants were able to immerse themselves in a new wave of artistic expression never seen before at a NeoCon.
How To Plan Your Day with Anxiety Disorder: Ideas That Work
A lot of my days with anxiety disorder start something like this: I wake up, then ask myself why I stayed up so late (again) the night before. I'm sleep-deprived, my eyes are bleary, and my thoughts are a grey, swirling blob of worry. I have a powerful feeling I'm forgetting something, or a lot of things (Reduce Morning Anxiety With These 5 Useful Tips). Then I groan loudly at the prospect of having to drag myself through another seemingly pointless day of my pathetic existence.
How to Escape the Hell of Perfectionist Paralysis
As people with anxiety, it's easy for us to succumb to the idea that everything we do has to be perfect. Think about it. It makes sense. If you believe, as I often do, that you're a failure, that people just generally don't like you, and that you're basically incapable of doing anything right, then why wouldn't you become a perfectionist? It's an understandable, albeit maladaptive, response to feelings of fear, loneliness, and alienation.
How I Release the Pain of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
I live with a lot of pain from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). That pain has to be released on a regular basis if I want to stay sane. Physical and/or emotional pain from GAD is very common. I have both, although my pain symptoms are more about emotional anguish than physical distress. But, the emotional pain of generalized anxiety is very real, as real as any physical symptom. I have to release some of that GAD pain on a daily basis, or I'll be destroyed by it.
Winners selected in 2018 Champagne Chair Contest
Four winners have been chosen in the 2018 Champagne Chair Contest, the 14th. The final judging, held January 30 at the DWR SoHo Studio, took on an international flair this year as the invitation to help pick the best chairs was extended to a number of designers visiting New York from Canada and Europe for a special photo shoot. They were joined by several designers based in New York.
Living With People Who Don't Understand Your Anxiety - HealthyPlace
I’m so insecure about this, but I’m legitimately terrified of my Phys Ed class. I think I was traumatized because I got mixed with the athletes. For that reason, they made me do an unfair amount of push ups. (Over 200) until I started crying. My leg almost snapped, but they didn’t care. As soon as I started crying they told me “get up”. And I was thankful it was over until he blew the whistle three times and I had to get back down and do fifty more. By that time i wasn’t able to walk.
Coping with Anxiety: 7 Tips for Anxiety and Panic Anxiety Relief - Part 2
Now, you're probably already aware of these three steps, but they are essential for both your health and managing your anxiety. You need them in order to focus your thoughts and push any irrational fears and anxieties out of the way. So, if you already implement these strategies in your regimen, then you're on the right track. Hopefully, I can hammer them home and perhaps help you build on some things you don't. First up is sleep. Sleeping is probably the most important of the three steps.
Why Anxiety Makes You Feel Stupid and Like a Failure
Does your anxiety ever make you feel like a failure? Does it ever make you feel stupid? A reader's comment on my post, Top 10 Anxiety-Friendly Jobs really got me thinking about this issue. They indicated that anxiety at work had caused them to exhibit some of the common signs of low self-esteem, including difficulty holding down a job, and becoming easily confused and forgetful.
Getting Through a Day Paralyzed by Anxiety and Depression
Living with mental health issues means there will be days where you feel paralyzed by anxiety and depression. Because comorbid depression and anxiety are so common with different mental illnesses, nearly everyone who struggles with mental health will have to get through a day feeling paralyzed by anxiety and depression. I had one today, and man, it was rough. But, the good news is, I got through it. I'm pretty good at planning my day with anxiety disorder, but today was exceptionally hard.
The Best Way to Stop Panic Attacks
A panic attack will not kill you; it will make you feel dreadful but you will not die because of one. It just doesn’t happen and if it did I would have died thousands of times. Read as much as you can about the flight/fight response and its effects on your body. It is there to save you not kill you, and we have to be glad we have such a natural response in case we are ever in a genuinely dangerous situation. The difference here is that there is no real danger and you only have a perceived threat.
What Do You Do When Anxiety Makes You Feel Unreal?
I've been having a horrible time with anxiety. It still affects almost every area of my life. And although I've certainly gotten lots better at coping, my anxiety seems to be developing a new wrinkle: walking around feeling so alienated from the world that nothing feels real. Oh, I still go through the motions, of course. I sleep, work, eat, blog, etc. But much of the time, it all feels like it's happening to someone else.
