What's the most common misperception about your beat?

Most people think American prisons are constant violence filled with hardened criminals or easy time, but the reality is routine, control, and psychological pressure. The population is mixed, gangs aren’t universal, and rehabilitation is inconsistent. The real impact is the slow distortion of time and identity, where change happens quietly, if at all.
