Hiking Southern Utah: Chinle Trail in Zion's West Desert Backcountry - The Independent
Hiking Southern Utah: Chinle Trail in Zion’s West Desert Backcountry Not all hikes are created equal, especially when you consider seasons and time of year. What is great for summer is not necessarily great for winter and vice versa, unless you like hiking in lower elevations in sweltering heat or in ice and snow when it’s cold. That being said, the lower-elevation hikes that you might avoid during the summer make for great winter hikes.

Hiking Southern Utah: Hiking Lady Mountain with Bo Beck
Hiking Southern Utah: Hiking Lady Mountain with Bo Beck This piece was first published on December 14, 2014. It was still dark as a caravan of us sped toward Zion National Park. With the approach of dawn on a clear spring morning, the plateaus and bluffs were just large shadows against the night sky as it turned cobalt blue. The roads were mostly empty as the towns lay in slumber. Bo Beck, myself, and a handful of others were on our way to hike Lady Mountain, one of the peaks in Zion National Park.

Middle Fork Taylor Creek - Kolob Canyons
Middle Fork Taylor Creek – Kolob Canyons Written by Bo Beck & Tayna Milligan The Kolob Canyons are located in the northwest corner of Zion, accessed off I-15 (exit 40), about 90 minutes from the south entrance of the main section of Zion. This section of the park is also known as the Finger Canyons, a label that is obvious after looking at a topological map of that area. The fingers are tall, orange-colored rock formations with narrow canyons between them.
I Dream of Running
I Dream of Running By Greta Hyland I dream of running, not figuratively but literally. In my dreams it is effortless, exhilarating. When I wake from these dreams I feel pumped and want to jump out of bed and run—there have been times at night when I have. For a while, running was a nightmare. I got tired. My legs felt like they were filled with sand. My lungs burned, everything hurt and I was miserable. I hated running. Then, one day it happened. I ran and it was exactly like my dreams.

De Agony of De Outdoor Feet I used to have a foot fetish… until I joined a climbing gym. There’s an old saying, “climbing is not a spectator sport,” but when belaying my partner at the new Momentum in Mill Creek, I can’t help but spectate at all the distracting, gnarled, swollen feet of my fellow climbers.
