Griselda Lopez’s Biography

Griselda Lopez is a freelance journalist who primarily helps non-governmental organizations (NGOs) achieve visibility on social media. She works closely with the Love Hallie Foundation and the Nelson Mandela Family Foundation (Africa Rising), to design social media strategies that highlight initiatives in early childhood education and women’s healthcare. Griselda recently assisted Rich Fields, the former host of the Prize is Right and spokesperson for the Moving Families Initiative (MFI), spearhead social media outreach programs to target families displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additional Credits – Publicity Director at Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ):
Griselda assumed the role of Publicity Director at SPJ of Columbia University just as the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the globe. She acted quickly and decisively to prioritize initiatives to help students with their physical and psychological health while confined at home. This included a video series on self-care, featured by Dean Huff of the Columbia School of Journalism. She also created public service announcements designed to highlight CDC wellness guidelines. Griselda successfully created campaigns on social media to promote fundraisers to help alleviate financial hardships and food insecurity experienced by students during the pandemic.

My Passion:
Griselda is a fervent supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. Her master’s thesis, They Run Alone, highlighted the struggles of transgender athletes in women’s athletics. She volunteers at grass-roots organizations in Queens that help homeless gay and transgender youth. Griselda also contributes to gender discrimination programs in India through the Aga Khan Development Network.
