A Plea offer for Trump and his kids
The state will dismiss this civil suit with prejudice the entire lawsuit under the following conditions: 1. Donald J Trump and ALL his companies will pay adjusted property taxes on the valuations they listed for banks and insurance companies for all properties listed in any financial disclosure form, loan application, statement of financial condition and any other unmentioned occurrences of fraudulent valuations with penalties and interest going back to 2008. 2.
My father died this morning.
Response to debm55 (Original post) Wed Sep 27, 2023, 11:39 AM My father never had anyone come and take him out of the VA hospital. I had a surprise for him. My first job with good pay, so I had a home built with an extra room. That was to be his. I never met him but wanted him to know it was okay. The morning I went to close on the home, the VA called me right at the closing moment. They said my father had just died. Of course it was painful.
***Submission Thread for the Summer Contest***
I am going to implement a very large change in how we do things. I am, for this contest only, waiving the rules on size limitations. AndyS ran a poll to see how the group feels about this, and the majority of the votes went to not enforcing the size limits. Therefore, there will be no rules regarding size. This is an experiment to see how suspending this rule works out here in the real world. Let's not go crazy with huge files; whatever you see as normal will work.

The Sequel: Full Blue Moon
Response to Grumpy Old Guy (Reply #12) Thu Aug 31, 2023, 02:28 AM I took mine right after it rose from behind the SE hills and of course there's a lot more air pollution at those lower levels. That accounts for the color I got, and I think also for the slightly soft outline. C'est la vie! Thank you again for your lovely thread earlier today. Response to Aristus (Reply #7) Wed Aug 30, 2023, 08:42 PM Will be learning electric and mechanical stuff. Is in his second year. Company is paying for his training as long as he does well. I don't know if the company is putting them up here at the long-stay hotel or not because is it not cheap. I assured him he will get there and keep at it. They do seem to be a great family. Has a wife and a 12 yr-old daughter also. Wife works. Haven't met them. You get the rug pulled out from under and you carry on.
I am so pleased Shaye and Ruby (GA election workers) won their lawsuit!!!!
Response to mysteryowl (Reply #5) Wed Aug 30, 2023, 02:10 PM This verdict is a major victory but so much wrongdoing occurred that sometimes it's hard to relax for a moment to enjoy a win. It doesn't feel like the threat is over, but I understand your point. We need to be balanced. Reply to this post Back to top Alert abuse Link here Permalink

I'm sorry, but Joe the Plumber was one depraved person.
Response to spike jones (Reply #6) Mon Aug 28, 2023, 09:01 PM started talking about the number of guitars David Koresh had collected, as if that were proof of his insanity. I remember thinking, "Hey, I've got THREE guitars -- does that make me 1/10th as crazy as David Koresh?" I don't believe that an enthusiasm for firearms = mass murder. A guy who collects WW1 weapons, or Revolutionary War muskets, is NOT going to go on a shooting spree.

Seriously? This story about Trump sounds like something I'd make up for laughs.
Response to genxlib (Reply #12) Tue Aug 22, 2023, 12:56 PM Trump does have a history of announcing his intentions in ways that are not taken seriously at the time. I'm not sure that Trump defecting to Russia would be of no use to Putin. From Russia, Trump could issue public statements against the US aid to Ukraine which would still have an impact here in the US. Millions of Americans (Trump supporters and anti war progressives) would pressure their representatives to stop the aid.
About the contest size limits
Hi there, As someone noticed, two of the winners this month violated the size limits. Here is what happened. I was busy travelling this month, and didn't check the image sizes while the entries were coming in. I finally checked them when I was preparing the preliminaries, and at least half of the images were oversized. Contacting every contestant would have added another week and a lot more work for me in the process. I chose to use my prerogative as the contest runner and ignore the rule this month.
K.C. CAME BACK HOME LAST NIGHT!!! Thank You All for your sweet support!
Response to NJCher (Reply #26) Thu Aug 17, 2023, 01:00 PM was blissful! That kitty meant so much to us! Sadly she disappeared permanently right as our daughter was graduating HS. She was a cat who would ride in the stroller or bike basket down the driveway; sit inside the dollhouse; tolerate costumes! One in a million. for dear Kimani! Thought I'd share my recent political artwork with you all 😀
My degree is a BFA in illustration. I went to art college & everything but roughly 15 years ago after being a professional illustrator I decided to make a career change to be a professional nature photographer. I've always loved editorial illustration. It's something I studied & did for many years, especially the political side of things. So I decided to do something I've not done in awhile. I hope you all enjoy it. This is my vision of Trump as Frankenstein 😀

Our island is burning...
Wed Aug 9, 2023, 04:48 AM We're on Maui.. We have a Cat2 hurricane passing to the south of us.. high winds, no rain.. but the winds have wreaked havoc.. brush fires fanned by high winds are burning in Kula, Makawao, Kihei, Wailuku and a large section of Lahaina.. there is video of Front Street, Lahaina fully engulfed in flames.. people were running into the ocean to escape the smoke and flames.. the Coast Guard picked them up and took them to safety... Fire Department is completely overwhelmed..
Looking ahead to the August Photo Contest.
Here's a preview of the August photo contest. The subject matter, as chosen by LakeArenal, is as follows: Trains, Planes and Automobiles. Any battery or fueled passenger vehicles. Parts or whole, inside or out, above or below, with or without passengers. (Though passengers might make things more fun). Hot air balloons, motor bicycles, go carts. Personally, I think this is a terrific subject. I can't wait.
Has your cat or dog ever brought home a surprise for you? My dog Bear (RIP) brought me home a mouse.
Response to debm55 (Original post) Sat Jul 22, 2023, 02:40 PM 3. Our cat Babette was a champion mouser Years ago, our apartment had mice. Babette would hunt them down and play with them. When I took them away from her, she would get very angry with me! Once, she caught a mouse, killed it and ate half then brought the other half to my wife. A peace offering or a birthday present, I guess. Reply to this post Back to top Alert abuse Link here Permalink

Response to Chalco (Original post) Mon Jun 26, 2023, 11:27 AM 1. I worked there for 20 years... ...and my kid lives there now. (We live in Culver City). It's a very expensive area. Parts of North Hollywood are okay, other parts not so much. Glendale is very nice too. Feel free to DM me for more info, or even a phone call sometime. Also, get used to driving a lot. We spend a lot of time in our cars here. Where are you moving from? Moving to L.A. could be a big adjustment.

Anyone ever have one of those traveling meat salesmen hit their block? Typically they are coming
Response to Ocelot II (Reply #1) Wed Jun 14, 2023, 12:33 PM 5. Out here we have traveling sales people. They have those cargo vans or a small cargo truck, set up along a busy street or intersection. The ones around here that are regular usually have seafood or fresh produce from somewhere in the state. The huetterite and menneite communities here sell a lot produce, even if they have to buy it at Costco and rebag it first. Reply to this post Back to top Alert abuse Link here Permalink

A magnificent griffon vulture shows its beauty when released back into the wild:

An open letter to Chief Justice John Roberts
Chief Justice Roberts: I hope you feel proud to serve as Chief Justice of the United States leading a Court of members, some of whom have no ethics, some of whom have no morals, at least one of whom has broken the law, and some of whom who want to overthrow the rights of American citizens, including the most precious - the right to an equal vote for their representatives. You have done nothing to stop any of this and in fact have participated in it.
It's Not Just The Guns. It's Republicans.
Response to kpete (Original post) Wed Apr 12, 2023, 08:40 AM 1. It's no longer about guns, abortion pills, etc. It is about the GOP need to control, kill, torture Americans. Establish fear, terror in the population to make it a docile one. Necessary prelude to establishing a fascist government. They do this for the sake of power, control, votes and money. They will kill and torment as many Americans as it takes. Plus the GOP/MAGAs enjoy their hatred, love tormenting and killing people.
Bwahahaha....Trump claims New York court staff cried and apologized
Response to Nevilledog (Original post) Tue Apr 11, 2023, 05:37 PM 18. According to court documents in the Dominion case, Sucker Carlson hates tRumpy? "We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights," he wrote in a text sent on 4 January 2021. "I truly can't wait." "I hate him passionately," he added. But now he's back to sucking up to the orange turd. Right.... just like Sucker said the January 6 insurrection was "mostly peaceful chaos".

Response to RAB910 (Reply #6) Wed Apr 5, 2023, 09:37 AM 8. That must be what that looks like. I'd expected more pretense, From an LA Times columnist: Donald Trump, once the most powerful man on Earth, threw himself a pity party Tuesday night. Indicted, booked and fingerprinted, the former president scurried home to his safe space at Mar-a-Lago, where surrounded by sycophants and other grasping hangers-on, he whined. but he wasn't in the mood...
GOP Lawmaker Warns About The Danger Of Voting
Response to LoisB (Reply #2) Mon Apr 3, 2023, 11:38 AM 15. I am taught that the USA is a CFR A CFR means: Constitutional (everyone agrees) Federal (some seem to be reflexively ant-federal) Republic (the Democratic Party doesn't deny that the USA is a representative republic). A republic means the people have representatives; it does not guarantee that the people can choose their representatives. Under the USA Constitution (until amended), Senators were not chosen by the people in the State.
Worst. Restaurant. Ever.
Response to highplainsdem (Original post) Sat Apr 1, 2023, 04:03 PM 10. Funny Stuff If you feed the Kitty then it knows that it has you controlled. If you ignore the Kitty then it will drive you insane. If you take away the bowl then you die. Our cat Pie had an issue with the opposite end. She would try to cover her waste by scratching at the top edge of the litter box. Never seeming to understand that she will never bury it that way. It drove us crazy.
