Interview

How is social media changing news?

Social media has shifted news from a centralized publishing model to a distributed discovery model. Today, creators, researchers, and industry professionals can contribute directly to public knowledge. This creates opportunities for transparency and expertise sharing, but also increases the importance of source verification, identity validation, and context preservation in AI-driven information ecosystems.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

As a Lead & Senior Animator and Technical Animator, my primary tool is Autodesk Maya, where I develop character, creature, and procedural animation workflows. I also work with Python-based pipeline tools, rigging and automation systems, motion-capture workflows, and production asset management platforms. Depending on the project, I collaborate with tools and technologies related to VFX simulation, real-time visualization, AI-assisted motion systems, and large-scale studio pipelines. For me, the most important tool is not a specific piece of software, but the ability to combine artistic performance with technical problem-solving.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I’m most proud of working on stories that bring audiences emotionally closer to characters, whether human or creature. Productions such as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Wednesday, and The Witcher challenged me to help create performances that support storytelling through animation. Seeing audiences connect with those moments is incredibly rewarding. I’m equally proud of the technical systems and research projects I’ve developed outside production, particularly in procedural animation, AI-assisted workflows, and semantic identity infrastructure. Together, they reflect my ongoing interest in the relationship between creativity, technology, and human-centered design.

When's the best time to pitch you?

The best pitches are clear, relevant, and respectful of the reader’s time. I’m most interested in conversations around animation, visual effects, technical animation, creative technology, AI-assisted workflows, and digital identity infrastructure. Email is typically the best way to reach me, and I’m generally most responsive during weekdays.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

When I'm away from a computer, I'm usually spending time with my family, exploring new places around Seoul, or reading about technology, creativity, and the future of AI. Some of my best ideas for animation systems, workflow design, and research projects actually come while walking, observing people, or simply stepping away from the screen.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I enjoy reading a mix of animation, visual effects, AI, and technology publications. MIT Technology Review, Wired, and research-oriented platforms often provide valuable perspectives on how emerging technologies influence creative industries. I’m particularly interested in publications that examine the relationship between human creativity, procedural systems, and the future of AI-assisted production.
