1 Introduction Development of anticancer immunity critically depends on the interplay between the innate and adaptive immune system. One of the most important mechanisms of the innate immune system to facilitate cancer immunity is phagocytic uptake of target cells by phagocytes, such as macrophages and dendritic cells, and the subsequent presentation of antigens to the adaptive immune system (1). Phagocytosis is, among others, regulated by the signal regulatory protein (SIRP)-family.

To investigate whether the ALK5 expression could be visualized in the lungs of PAH rat models, [18F]EW-7197 and [11C]LR111, two ALK5 targeting PET tracers, were evaluated in in vitro and in vivo PAH models. The immunofluorescence data confirmed that ALK5 levels were increased in the lungs of MCT- and SuHx-exposed rats compared with control lungs. In addition, the apparent ALK5 expression was higher in the SuHx model than in the MCT model (Fig. 3a).

If ARDS persists for more than 5 days after diagnosis it is considered as ‘non-resolving’ and the risk of fibrosis formation is considerable if the cause for ARDS remains untreated [3, 30]. There are several studies that show that reactivation of HSV and CMV is frequent in non-resolving ARDS [31,32,33]. No randomized trials have been conducted on whether or not to treat HSV reactivations, but observational studies suggest independent excess mortality in the HSV and CMV group.
